There's plenty of them with bags of time on their hands, as they're sat drawing their pension. Before the internet they'd just spit a few cornflakes over their Mrs as they read the latest Daily Nazi 'outrage', nowadays they can vent their spleen all day long. Yours Sincerely Outraged of Hemel Hempstead

Just reading through my monthly copy of Which? Magazine... "Is Brexit Hitting Yo in the Pocket?" Inflation vs £:€ Jan 16 to Jun 17 CPI 0.3% up to >1.35% Food <-2.5% up to >1.35% New car inflation was falling to June 16 but have been on an upward trend since and are now back above the then rate of app. 1.4% but continuing to rise. Oddly Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen have held prices the best. £ down by 15% v € over 4 months... and has continued to fall. Food prices are up across the board and we import 40% with 75% of that from the EU. Obviously I don't need to spell out what that means when taken with the slump of the £:€.... do I? The UK drinks 15% of the world's wine imports!!! Average bottle price increase in 18months up to June 16 was 4p. The prediction for the following 18months is 44p. Technology by from 11-25% depending on manufacturer Apple, Microsoft and Sonos listed. Hotel prices up between 15-50% around the world, 80 of the top 100 destinations by 10% or more. The evidence is incontrovertible.
Your assumptions are all based on the value of a low Pound. Sterling has risen against the USD over the last year. The trading experts agree that Sterling is well undervalued at the moment, they predict further corrections in future. Inflation is due to fall later this year and there will be an opportunity to buy food cheaper from non EU countries when we have free trade deals. Sterling has been valued up to more than $2.00 to the pound befor, fluctuations are perfectly normal.
The fall in the value of Sterling was much much greater in 2008. The UK, in particular importers, like my business, handled the situation as best they could. Sterling went from $2.10 to the £ to $1.45 to the £, a much bigger difference than today.
Probably very accurate - and applies equally to the issue of Scottish Independence. We have some (resources) and Westminster want it - or, to be more precise, don't want to lose it. And then there is Spain and Catalonia...
Well what a waste of time and money. A total non-event. She is still in fantasy land wanting everyone to change the systems that have been built up over the years just to suit the UK. She did admit that the economy would be in dire straights if there were no deal. What did she have to say about the three principles that have to be sorted before the talks can move forward. Nothing new at all. She did admit that the UK courts would have to take notice of ECJ rulings. That is exactly what they have to do on many matters at present. This was an exercise in keeping herself and government in power, but has opened up so many more questions that no one has a clue what she will do next.
May's speech was an exercise in a common sense approach to avoid damage the EU and the UK. The EU do not have the slightest intention of concluding a sensible deal, they just want to warn off any other nation thinking the same. Hopefully the EU reject her stance out of hand so we can plan to leave without a 'deal' a.s.a.p..
Well seeing as Farage is concerned he cannot see us leaving, I doubt that this will be resolved anytime soon.
The standard gung ho Brexiteeers charge for the exit. Completely irresponsible and that won't be happening.
These are not assumptions but the latest figures from the ONS Consumer Price Index published July 2017. Regardless of what "trading experts" think, the trends show a fall in currency value and a rise prices across the board. Remember this is Which? Magazine interpreting the figures without comment or political prejudice for the benefit of consumers... all of us.
