Just had to say it. Me and Sky can bicker sometimes, but I have mad respect for him in that regard. The fact that he can function as a normal person (well normal for a scouser anyway ), is deeply admirable. Glad he is not one of these, "go to the pub and orders an Orange juice or Sparkling water for the rest of his life", type guys.
Yes and the barman has started high fiving me every time I order, bit worrying as he fills the glass up with 80% vodka and 20% coke. Mi Amigo
love Bods dry sense of humour. Im not gonna **** in you, a little wee will do. Function as a normal person.
My problem was crack and heroin. Alcohol never causes me any real problems. Give me some crack and I'll rob my own family... 15 nearly 16 years clean tho.
yeah make sure he isnt slipping rohypnol in to your drinks Sky. You might wake up with a missing kidney and a bleeding ring piece
He's ****ing sound tbh... Surely you know that every holiday you meet one barman that sorts you out. Maybe it's just Me?
Aye, but most crack and heroin addicts in recovery avoid alcohol and ALL intoxicating substances because they are afraid that if they get pissed, they will do some H or some crack, because they have zero self control when drunk. An active addict is physically addicted to the stuff, it causes them physcial pain when on withdrawals so I can understand why they do the things they do to get a fix. (I am sure you know all of this). But someone, for example, who used Heroin but has been clean for a year, if all it takes is 3 pints of Heineken to get him spiking his vein again, I question his will to stay clean to be honest.
Many can't though. I took a risk, massively. Know about 15 people that tried what I did and are dead now.
I still have far too much fun at times tbh. Sometimes need to check myself before I wreck my kids lives. All good though as I can step away when needed.
Well far be it from me to judge those guys, as I dont know their circumstances or their backgrounds. I can understand at first wanting to stay away from everything, so your body can de tox and so you avoid being in situations that might make you use. But when I come across these alcoholics who have been tee total for 8 years or some ****, and they cannot have a single ****ing drink, because they are afraid they will slip back in to depravity, I just pity them. I suppose it is a solution, and its preferable to dying obviously, but really they haven't owned the disease and conquered it, they are just hiding from it.
The term is dry drunks. Thousands about. Still miserable as sin and just swapped booze for the big book.
