Here we go. If someone criticises you, instead of explaining yourself, just insult people. Nice one, Ken! Has he ever thought that the reason people don't like him, is that he never outlines his plans for Leeds? As paying fans, we deserve to know where our money is going. Has he ever outline what he wants to achieve - e.g. 'We are aiming to win promotion within 2 years.' etc.? He consistently ignores uncomfortable questions - a sign that someone has something to hide. I wouldn't mind him if he just explained why the club made an operating loss in the year to June,2010, and a tiny profit in the year to June, 2011. We made massive turnovers for a club outside the Prem, spent 50% on wages, had the rent for Thorp Arch/Elland Road which is roughly £2million a year but the rest goes un explained.
A comment on the Scratching Shed that sums it up well: Is it moronic to want to know who owned our club since 2007 and why Bates was able to buy their stake in a profitable club with huge potential so quickly and discretely as soon as questions were asked about ownership? Is it moronic to want to know exactly what happened with the administration in 2007 and why our chairman threatened to liquidate the club and why other offers were blocked? Is it moronic to want to know who owns our stadium and why we pay so much rent on it, and rather than try and buy it back, we are spending money on ground improvements? Is it moronic to wonder if Bates has some vested interest in the company that owns the stadium and the company that used to own the club, and if that would make his dealings illegal? Is it moronic to question where £10mil profit in the last 4 years has gone? New home in Monanco Ken? Is it moronic to ask where the money from the delph transfer went and why we were unable to buy back our training ground? Is it moronic to ask why ticket prices are higher than ever when the quality of football and the league we are in is lower than it should be for Leeds United? Is it moronic to ask why nobody will invest with Bates when we are a sleeping giant with huge potential? Is it moronic to ask why when I walk around my city, I can buy merchandice from scum chelsea liverpool etc but my club, Leeds, won't sell official shirts outside Elland Road so that they can fix the price so high? Is it moronic to ask why we pay £4 for a programme? More than anybody else! Is it moronic to think that rather than squeeze as much money as possible out of those that will pay, we should be looking to attract new people and kids to the club, and try to maximise the potential of this huge, one club city, when there are no premiership clubs in yorkshire and we have a great history? Don Revie wanted to be the English Real Madrid, Ken Bates wants us to be like Norwich or Burnley??? I'm sure I've missed a lot out too! This anti-Bates feeling is about so much more than ours transfers this summer, his chelsea connection and one bad performance at Southampton. Its about a fear that this man is milking the club and us the fans for all we are worth! Is it moronic to care about the long-term future of this club the we have all invested so much time, money and emotion in to?
Slightly aside from the KB comments, I thought this quote from the BBC was a bit ironic... 'The BBC is currently not allowed to cover news conferences or send reporters or producers to speak to players or the manager of Leeds on match days, excpet in cases where the club is contractually bound to make access available.' It just made me laugh, the BBC getting a taste of their own medicine, in that they now know what it's like to be constantly moderated!
Billyboy, your a dickhead. You need to realise that people are gonna have different views to you especially on forum ****wit. I didnt say anything offensive to anyone that protests against bates
Josh-LUFC - Okay you are entitled to think that but when Best Fans posts the Scratching Shed comment do you still feel the same way? When BBC 606 closed I came here, I don't bother with other boards as they can kill too much time. I was very open minded, I liked Grayson, I hoped for some nice signings and I thought Bates was okay but I did not like him as a person... Pre-season unfolded and my opinions got more and more negative towards Bates. I still like Grayson but I do fear would he waste a million quid if he had it? Boards would be boring without debate but how so many fans can still think Bates is good for Leeds beggars belief. I won't call anyone names over it, if you still think he is right for the club I would love to see some answers to the questions posted by the Scratching Shed and Best Fans
keep kicking him in the bollocks where it hurts---let it keep getting to him---i am a moron an proud ----i love leeds----not the pirate bastard bates
Billyboy If you click on the button under someone's post that looks like "+ inside a speech bubble, then you click 'reply to thread' (the big red button at the bottom), it means you can quote everyone but all in one post mate. And you can use 'edit post' underneath your post if you want to add to what you've already written instead of composing a new one.
Leicester thread - descended into personal insults, despite a warning from me that I'd leave it open if people stopped, and therefore had no more discussion value. Sexy Wags - you'll have to ask cyprussyd. I'd have left it open myself. Did you have another one in mind? It's generally accepted on forums that threads which have run their contentual course should be closed once they descend into meaningless trash talk, though I'm willing to reopen them if people think there's a case for them actually still being worthy of usage and not just cluttering up the board which the majority of browsers simply want to read Leeds United-related news and debate from.
