its just my opinion. if you read EVERYTHING on this site as just opinion then you'd not be telling me oh you say that every year and are plain wrong... and all i did was show that past history shows that we are pretty damned predictable.

so my opinion is mid 60s in points 6th and thats where i am at. I've based it on what i have seen after an intense preseason of preparation and things are no better at the back. in fact they look worse to me.

8 out of 15 points.... thats off the pace already. We could do with a run of 3 wins in a row to get back on track. whats our next 3? leicester, newkie, utd.... then spurs then huddersfield. TBH 10 out of 15 in those games would be a good return.

As i said we need to get coutinho and the front 3 together FAST and the midfield protection for the defense sorted FAST or we will be completely out of it before we know where we are.

    Gentleman, <laugh>

He was drunk driving a slapper back to her gaff to bang her while his Mrs and kids were out of town on holiday.

Michael Rainford, defending, says his client was “a perfect gentleman” throught the process of being arrested.

He says Rooney stopped the car himself without being flashed.

“There was a passenger with him but the road conditions themselves were very quiet there was nobody around...the standard of his driving was acceptable in that there was no speeding or anything of that nature.”

Mr Rainford says his client has no previous convictions and has shown remorse.

“Through me Wayne wishes to express his genuine remorse for what was a terrible mistake and a terrible error of judgement on his behalf.”

He says Rooney has written a letter to the court.

The funniest thing about that is the idea he managed to write a whole letter all on his own.

No one can see where it's going, we've just started!!

Just look back at the experts in Sept 2016 saying its manchesters without a doubt or Sept 2015 with Leicester dead certs for the drop

Things change very quickly in football, we'll adapt and get back to winning ways soon

Oh i can see a nice little slot for us by the end.

You are perfectly right about leicester but if we live our lives by the one single example in modern times of a total and utter shock then we'd be expecting Huddersfield or birghton to win this not city and utd.

My belief is theres special cause and common cause variation out there. Leicester are such an unusual and special case to base anything off them would be fundamentally flawed.

    In general LFC would need:

    a) Coutinho to settle into the sort of form he showed right at the end of last season, scoring free kicks, taking corners being the main man in midfield. And do this quickly

    b) mane to score 20 goals (not impossible)

    c) Salah to take more than 1 in 4 chance

    d) firmino to link it all togehter

    e) henderson to realise his job is not to chase every ball (or perhaps its kloppp to realise this) and provide a screen while also realising floating ****e balls forward aimlessly while the team is transitioning to attack is fundamentally stupid. Ping them in the channels if you want. look for runners but keep it simple!

    f) set piece defence to actually be worked on to eliminate errors like small men at front stick or on 6 yard box.

    g) screening mistakes and diving in to be eliminated. shuffle players wide, buy time for players to get back.

    h) play the ball at the right time not all the time. row z works! we only do it after making an error. its very very highly unlikely you will socre off passes rund the back, fast ball forward once you win it back yes. 6 passes and turning your back to play and bullshit like that no.

    i) klopp to realise changing the team every game is not ideal at this point. Rest yes, change gk and defenders about constantly = leak goals.

So if ALL of that happens right... tell me again are we better or worse than spurs, chelsea, city and utd... but one must assume if we get better chelsea and spurs will improve on thier issues too.

so..... sure we've just started but we've set the pattern for ourselves nicely, can't defend, easy to get at etc etc.. I just feel this year we've got worse not better at the back and addressing that will be very very tough. UP front great.. we will enjoy it no doubt... but behind it it's bang average and we are going to suffer for it.

As i said in the beginning Leicester are a special case... hell chelsea has a special case last year too (no europe) so... well.... all the top 6 are in europe, 5 of them in CL. we IMO are least equipped to cope and lack the most in key areas. Is that a lack of faith in LFC. NO its faith in and respect what the other sides can do.

city are awesome right now. not the final product but even better than us going forward. They were bloody awful at the back against us though. so frustrating to lose mane on a narrow margin play.

Utd are immense. They are going to grind every small side to paste and bully less physical teams off the park, they will concede few goals and will score lots.

cheslea are not as good as last year but bought well IMO. I think they will score quite a few too.. but need less than a month to really get up to speed... mean time that are only 3 off the top.

spurs have a very good first 11 and thats strong all over the park, they have an issue with home games. Is that going to allow us to complete over the course of the year?

Arsenal have a strong side but disorganised. no real grit to them but... sanchez, lacazette ozil are a top top front 3... they've really good full backs too, they just need to get organised. Can we take them? maybe. Of all the sides they strike me as the one who could give up on their manager ala LFC under rogers.

The rumour is that big vultures are circling around mane. Not only Barcelona peeved at missing Coutinho but Real Madrid and Juventus. Yet more uncertainty and disruption. <doh>

well. TBH i'm not worried there. He's a long way from that level so far, he could get there if he scores 20 goals or something but I got the impression that was a cheeky dig at LFC by the english press hacks more than anything.

I'm sure come next june and early deal pre world cup will be done for coutinho and we will all have to wave him goodbye. i just hope he will have delivered 10/15 goals from midfield and a similar number of assists :)

Interesting that when we have a superb record against the top 6 its attributed to being a one off and treated as if it was a complete coincidence that we kept getting good results against the top teams but when we drop points against smaller sides its obviously a systematic weakness.

They don't give a trophy out for winning the top 6 league, you have to play at all times not just the big occasions.

no no we HAD a great record, last year. Theres no evidence at all that we will deliver the same. I actually said the following today.

Last year: 5-5-0. Already this year 1-0-1. The average last year was 10points off rival top 6 clubs. We did 20 points. ALREADY WE HAVE LOST ONE.

Last year we dropped lost of points v the bottom half. this year so far. 1-0 scrape v palace who were bloody awful, 1-1 v burnley and 3-3 v watford. so... thats 1-2-0 record thus far there... NO EVIDENCE THUS FAR WE WILL DO BETTER V BOTTOM TEAMS.

Lets be clear here v top 6.

    2016/17 Liverpool 20 points.
    2015/16 Liverpool 14 points.
    2014/15 Liverpool 11 points

BTW just as a note: LFC had beaten city reasonably often in the higher points years. We just got tonked. We usually draw to utd and cheslea or lose one win on or just plain lose. Same for spurs usually a draw

So you can take what you like out of that. We had last year and EXCEPTIONAL year v top 6 and it is what got us 4th place.

Outside the top 6 then: our record. 17-5-6. = 56 points.

Say for example we did 14 points (thats 4-2-3 record v top 6) and repeat that 17-5-6 thats 70 points there. we are 1-0-1 and 1-2-0 so far.

So you're predicting our season's results against the top 6 on just 2 games? The game we were well in until we got a red card in the first half?
