He stands at over 5' 4", Davo, Davo Plays every game but rarely scores, Davo, Davo Successive managers think he's great But is the player some like to hate Steven Davis, Saint's midfield dynamo Lyrics are easy Fats
Saints form: D,W,D,L,W. With the United game coming up, that win is so important. If the form had been D,W,D,L,L, I would have been bereft (= seriously depressed, absence of all hope). I know that is daft so early in the season, but that is what supporting football does for you.
Does nobody else apart from me think that Lemina combines the best qualities of both Wanyama (destructive tackler, solid wall at the base of midfield) and Schneiderlin (visionary passer and runner with the ball)? The amazing thing is that paired with Romeu we have two players who can do both jobs, depending on the situation, the best kind of double pivot we have possibly ever had. With the prospect of Hoedt and Virgil pairing up behind them, our defensive quality is potentially awesome. We just need to get some goals now!!!
Very happy with the win, another uninspiring performance from the front 3 but that's par for the course. The confidence that'll be taken from the win more than makes up for that. Forster - Best game I've seen for a long time. Don't think he irritated me once. First save from Benteke he was lucky it was straight at him, but Forster did everything right. Other saves were very good though. Hoedt - Excellent performance and as said, very good on the ball. Lazio fans say his weakness is playing against quick, tricky strikers. So Benteke was playing into his strengths. Yoshida - World class as always Full backs - Both solid, need to offer more going forward. Cedrics final touch/ball is still awful 95% of the time unfortunately. Romeu - Pretty poor by his standards, gave the ball away a few times in bad areas. Mopped up infront of Benteke nicely though. Lemina - Best midfield display I've seen in a Saints shirt in recent memory. Everything I'd hoped he'd be. Morgan who? Davis - Very good half hour or so, then just reverted to being the safe 3rd midfielder that he is. If only we had another midfielder who could make simple passes and make an option for people!! Tadic - An improved performance, looked dangerous and had the beating of Schlupp all day long. Redmond - Does he do anything other than wave his arms around and moan about things? A few long shots, but never threatening. I suppose it doesn't matter how badly he plays as he's Les Reed's golden signing. Long - Good energy up front, useful to have. A few good touches and link up play. As good as it gets from him really, apart from the odd goal.
I really don't think he was crap yesterday. 2 of our 4 shots on target and linked up ok with Berty 2nd half Tried stuff at times but needs to improve, maybe better team performances will help him You saw JWP v Watford and think he should start before Redmond???
Am usually a Redmond fan as we have lacked pzazz recently, but definitely needs to up his game. Disappointing this season.
Chances aside surely the main difference was that we were totally outplayed by Watford but we controlled the game much of the time v Palace I left the Watford game very worried and left the Palace game with great hope and that wasn't just because of the score I was at the Palace game and if anyone just saw highlights they may have gained a false impression as mentioned by others
I know we haven't played any top sides, but it is interesting that we are only separated from Spurs in 5th on GD....and we aren't playing that well.
Re previous discussion on Berties happiness being a Saint Did you notice how happy he looked when Davo scored? He was first man there to congratulate him I think Bit of a contrast with his 'celebration' when he scored his 1st England goal
