Another barren season to look forward too.....When are liverpool ever going to look like serious title contenders again? Its getting ridiculous now that Liverpool have not won the premiership title once even.....One thing is certain Klopp wont change Liverpool's fortunes....
I agreed with your sentiments up until I got to " lts getting ridiculous now that Liverpool have not won the premiership title once even", If football was invented the day of the first premier league fixtures you'd be correct, but if you had said "it's getting ridiculous now that Liverpool have not won the league title since 1989-90", I'd have agreed with your post completely Dai.
It is looking like deja vu all over again Last season, we complained of a poor defence. Any improvement? Not that I can notice. We also complained of a system that cannot break a massed defence. And also a lack of a plan B. Any change for the better? Not that I've noticed. We also moaned and whinged about how we missed Mane a lot when he was absent at some tournament and that we needed a credible substitute for him. Did the club find the man? I don't think so. I've always believed that Klopp was a massive improvement on Rodgers. Looking back at their respective stats with us and what Rodgers is doing with Celtic, I am finding it increasingly difficult to argue that case.
I always thought Klopp was a great manager and would have loved him at United, right now though it is looking like he is a one trick pony. The trick worked well in a two horse league but is found wanting in a competitive league.
If he'd gone to Utd do you honestly think things would have planned out the same for him and Utd would be in our spot in the league? Interesting.
Since we are now speculating on how Klopp would have done at the mancs, I wonder how Mourinho would have done with us if he had been recruited by us instead of Klopp in October 2015. I have no doubt he would have been ruthless with our defenders and sacked many of them. And I think he would have prioritised winning over style. Having said that not sure whether that approach will have worked with LFC and whether it would have brought us success or even acceptable to the fans.
Yes, I do. When a manager has a good transfer kitty at his disposal but decides there is only one CB in the world who is better than Klavan and Lovren, then his idea of reality has to be questioned. When the same manager thinks he can play the same way against all opposition then his knowledge of football should be questioned. If he was our manager now do you really think he would be doing any better than he is with you?
No, I don't, can't see why you'd assume I would, like Carl asked, do you think we'd be in Utd's position if Maureen was our manager?
No, he knows how to build a team. In 4 windows I would have expected him to sort out the midfield and defence, the attack was already good enough to go with and compete.
A lot has to do with Utd throwing money at it bigtime and LFC wanting a cheaper option, also one manager safe in the knowledge he can afford to buy established players and another manager who has to try and improve younger less experienced players.
£70m for the only CB that is better than what you have? How much for the future service of the only CM that is better than what you have? I have not seen a manager yet that hasn't used the cheque book when they could.
Of course, but.....not as much as Jose it appears, otherwise we'd know wouldn't we? Just because Utd aren't an oil club doesn't mean they haven't gone from a club played integrated their youth players along with established players into a chequebook club. Yes, they've earned their money and can spend it how they like but when Maureen became manager it manager the Utd youth system suffered.
