Absolutely not a Vettel or Ferrari fan, but, but, his pole lap today was f--ck-ng top class, i've watched nearly every pole lap one way or another since 1971 and this one is up there man, well done.lad.

And, sadly, I also felt that Lewis had lost his fire, I do hope this is not true as I had considered Lewis to be capable over the next few season to prove he is the all time best ever.

    Time will tell, eh.

Agree with you and El Bando about Vettel's lap. A real stunner. Probably his all-time best and it makes him favourite for the race.

I'm somewhat less in agreement about your second sentence though! Hamilton wears his heart on his sleeve and the Mercedes is not a particularly compliant chassis: whilst not being as wooden as the Williams, it is at its best on faster circuits with longer straights where traction can outweigh - or at least offset - cornering ability. It
s chassis is currently out-performed by the Dancing Horse and not-so-dead Bulls.

We still have a tantalising prospect for the season as a whole. It's a shame Red Bull were less competitive earlier, otherwise it might have been a real three-way scrap for the title(s)!

Hopefully next year we'll get them even closer as the engine differences narrow further and McLaren get something more than racing stripes to go faster.
Vettel, Hamilton, Max, Danny and Alonso all with race winning cars would be a treat.

    It really would.

That's what the FIA and Liberty need to consider when thinking about the next revamp.

I thought it was fascinating today to see drivers who I really rate not hindered by their horsepower. In a narrower field, Alonso and Hulkenberg stood out like they have throughout their careers

Imagine Half a second regularly separating Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Hulk, Ricc and Verstappen. Would be some fabulous racing.

Compare that to now on a power circuit, where you have Merc and Ferrari a second or more ahead of Red Bull, in turn a second ahead of McHonda and Renault. So the only people truly able to challenge Lewis and Sen on genuine car pace are Raikonnen (second rate nowadays as sad as it makes me to say that) and Bottas, who is solid but not spectacular (no disrespect).

Here's hoping we have a Formula that enables close racing and drivers making differences.

Until they change the cars so that they can actually run within a couple of seconds of each other without destroying tyres and completely losing grip, we're really not going to get real close racing other than in the points.

Apparently it's currently raining in Singapore, so that's potentially interesting!

F1 always seems to look to shake up the formula just as the playing field seems to level as teams hit a development ceiling. It can be really frustrating. That said, there's still 3 seasons until the change, so hopefully we'll see closer racing through to 2021.

Ross Brawn seems keen that the new regulations could last for ten years, so I think they're going to be properly thought through for once (in aero terms) and hopefully the new engine formula strikes a balance between keeping big manufacturers and enticing smaller ones.

I'd be happier if the new rules didn't actually change much. Keep the cars essentially the same but simplify, like limit wing elements and extra bits. Make the floor more important if they want to keep speeds up.

We've never had a wet Singapore GP. Will they risk it?

Probably not , they will just trundle round behind the safety car boring us all stupid , and winding the REAL racers up at the same time .

    Rain in Singapore.

Hopefully won't get too heavy. Under lights the visibility through the spray would be worse than normal with the reflections

Crikey, rain in Singapore! Totally unexpected and this puts some decision making on a knife edge.

Red Bull will be very interesting IMO, super downforce and two strong wet drivers

nope, you'd think they'd learn by now considering how many times those 3 have come together

I don't think you can really blame anyone, Kimi got the lightening start which was the catalyst and then Seb moved to squeeze, Max which is all fair.

Absolute chaos and Fernando Alonso was almost into podium contention!

If this stays wet I can see Hulkenberg finishing in top 2.

Does Hamilton yield to a fiesty Ricc and take either 18 or 15 points given that Vettel is out??

    just finishing will do!

must be slippery as hell out there.

Vettel was putting down a lot of coolant and oil on the track from his damaged sidepod.

wonder if he spun on his own fluids?

I think Vettel pushed Max over on Kimi....Max and Kimi had really great starts and I think Kimi may have taken the lead.
