We all have our hate players and mine happens to be Davis lol - Personally I would like to see him in stocks in front of the Bargate and be given the opportunity to throw rotten vegetables at him! Another poster said he's like Marmite and I quite agree so unfortunately all my comments about said "Terry ****witt" are likely to be biased.
Fair enough fella We all have those players, one of mine is Forster but can see he made a very good save in the first half and apparently in second but couldn't see that one. I think even if we don't rate players we have to see when they play well which Davis clearly did today imo.
For me, the true value of Steve Davis was in the way he gave so many players passing options. Last week I criticised the team for playing too far apart, with passes having to be hit too long, because we weren't playing with him in the advanced midfield role. Today Davis did, what Davis usually does. He occupied the space ahead of the defensive midfielders, giving them an easy out ball. He was regularly the player on the spot to receive a pass from the wide players, including the full backs, and he was also there joining in with the forward players. He may not be flashy, but he helps make things tick over. When he's not there, we get performances like last week.
I don't know about anyone else who went today but I literally cannot stop ****ing singing 'ohh-ohh, Mario Lemina!' Proper stuck in my head On that note too does anyone know if our stewards come away with us? I only ask as a steward was singing that song with me in the concourse at half time Should have got a pic or video with him tbh.
I wish I could like your post many times over, then kiss your beautiful face for good measure. Couldn't agree more.
As someone that has no interest in Italian football, did Juve have an excellent midfield or were they just broke to able to sell Pogba and Mario
Tonne of quality CMs. Their midfield pairing for most of last season was Pjanic and Khedira, with Marchisio behind them. Then they added Blaise Matuidi in the summer for good measure. Italian football is becoming more entertaining, for what it's worth. Well above-average in goals scored per game last year, and with fewer draws than most of the major European leagues.
You live In Pezenas? That's where I have been staying these last 12 days. I go back to the Uk on Tuesday.
Perhaps I should quantify my opinion about Davis. Is not combative enough and is easily bullied - too small being a 5 5" inch pipsqueak ( defensive frailties ) No penetration, picking the ball up and driving runs into the penalty box. Always stops and turns back on the counter attack after receiving the ball in an advanced position because he lacks pace. Lacks vision to unlock a defence You never see him playing that "killer ball" Always seems to take the easy option when recycling the ball in midfield - usually sideways or backwards. I appreciate that in seasons gone by he was much better than in recent years "a proper dynamo in midfield" but I feel we haven't seen that for at least 18 months. Also If he was so bloody good why has no other club ever taken an interest in him? Obviously others will see it differently
Why hasn't anyone come in for Davis? I think that we are a good club and the only teams worth leaving us for are the top ones, so only our very best players are poached. In the past, our players would leave to go to teams like West Ham and Stoke, but not any more. I rate Davis, but accept that City, United etc wouldn't be interested. It makes it easier for us to keep the core of the team if we want to.
