I was really chuffed by the way we sprayed diagonal passes to the feet of the target. Hoedt did about six, Lemina a couple but they were all pretty much perfect and moved us rapidly from our own half to dangerous attacks. There wasn't anyone on the end of some of the resulting crosses but it won't always be like that. I also admired every single player for their desire to win the ball back. I lost count of the number of times a CP player got the ball, ran with it then lost it to a Saints player coming in from behind. Really dogged desire to get cracking and it paid off. I know Palace weren't brilliant but remember that we weren't letting them be brilliant either. Lemina's a monster; loved him in his first game, loved him today. If this carries on he may turn out to be a real bargain. Hoedt's not too shabby, either. Vin
Yeah Palace weren't brilliant, and they had two excellent chances, whilst we only had one as far as I can remember. But a much improved performance from the Watford game and a step in the right direction! Lemina and Romeu dominated.

Harsh on Davis I feel. He faded in the second half a bit but covered more ground than anyone and was involved in everything good we did in the first 45 in particular. Did I say that Mario is a monster? New cult hero for sure. Sorry all the posts hadn't loaded that Davis comment was in reply to Kreuzberg.
I listened to the commentary in the radio and am extremely happy about the result. I don't think Palace should be under-estimated as the match was very much set up for being Hodgson's afternoon with much of the press anticipating a home win. This result is probably more crucial that it seems. I think with Palace playing Man City next week, by beating them today Saints have ensured that the Selhurst Park faithful will be watching a relegation battle for the rest of the season. A recovery looks a long way off for Palace. On top of that, the 3 points ensures that Saints keep away from the bottom half of the table - something that could have put us in a very precarious position had we lost. Just get the feeling that this lunchtimes result will be significant for our season.
Hoedt is like having a left footed Toby... Early days of course but he genuinely oozes class. On the note of desire to the win the ball back can't help but feel they got a huge rocket up the arse last week as it was so much better from the first whistle. Like a different team.
