This thread is getting too gloomy, so here's some good news about football in Southampton. Both our women's teams have still got a 100% record in the Women's Premier League, not a single match drawn or lost. And only one match lost in the cup between them.
Southampton Women had their first match postponed, but went on to beat Dehham United 4-2 in the cup followed by thrashing Basingstoke 5-0 in their first ever WPL league game having only been promoted last season.
Southampton Girls & Ladies are competitive WPL veterans but have also started excellently winning their three league games without conceding a single goal (2-0, 4-0 & 4-0) but unfortunately lost their cup tie against Lewes 3-1 after extra time.

The league table makes for excellent viewing, entirely unlike the Men's Premier league one (admittedly, the WPL division 1 where they play is actually step 4, same as EPL division 2; but still)!

First team said to be training at St Marys today, perhaps MoPo2 is explaining to them where the goal-mouths and the back of the net are?

Really? I did suggest that a week or two back.

    Now for another suggestion.
We are shown videos of them scoring goals, during training, but all the goals are scored with nobody pressing them.
How about trying to *replicate match conditions* and see if they can score when being closed down etc?

*Yes I'm sure they do already do that, but times are getting desperate, and just in case they weren't, I just thought I would put it out there.

Happy birthday, Sam. Sam's loan has puzzled me....was he happy to sign a new contract and go out on loan again....or did he expect to stay with our squad. After all he could have got a permanent move in the last window.

Olomola's injury is reportedly not as serious as at first though. Good news.

Suggestion that MP2's honeymoon period is over....bit like the bloke you married looked great in a nightclub but not so good when you want the boiler fixed. The biggest disappointment is not the points on the table....that can be rectified....but the lack of hope that things will improve. Puel is both a curse and a blessing to Mauricio. Puel's failure to get us to play exciting football has trailed into MP's reign....so he is almost being judged on what happened last season. On the other hand, I cannot see the board jumping the gun (like Palace)....after sacking Puel after one season, they are invested in Mauricio's success. He will be given time and deserves to be given time as the problems are obviously the players we have and not totally down to the manager. Let's hope the new players settle in and VVD settles down.

    Been away, so coming to this late, but regarding Cortese;
I was speaking with a friend who is fairly high up in a non-playing department at saints (admittedly this was in the summer and pre takeover completion), he was considering leaving the club because of the lack of direction that he felt had permeated all levels of the club.

He was quite nostalgic for the times under Cortese, whom he admitted was “a complete bastard to work for, but at least his vision for the club was very clear and everyone knew what they were working towards”.

Personally speaking, I am glad he was here and I am grateful for the path he set us on, but I don’t miss him. I think the current board have done/are doing a decent job and the trajectory that Cortese had us on was always going to be impossible to keep to.

Our old friend Ronald Koeman getting an absolute battering from Everton fans on talkSport......including "he needs to go"
Micky Gray (ex Sunderland etc) heavily criticising RK and his tinkering with the line up
Ohhhhh....paradise not quite as lovely as he thought

I spend so much time rewriting before I post anything just to avoid double entendres....but the capacity of the male mind to see unintended meanings constantly astounds me. :)
