i can't be arsed to get into this tonight but blaming the defence or midfield is pointless until we see some evidence there is a system for defence that suits the players we have available .

The only reason Hendo is playing is he is our Captain. Utd had the guts to bench Rooney when he was their club captain and we should do the same. I would prefer Milner sitting in front of the defence to Hendo.
No. But if we had we'd have won. You said (something like) it's pointless scoring if you concede. Obviously it depends on how many of each. My point is that if we'd have scored 3 then conceding 2 isn't a problem. 3-2 gets you the same number of points as 1-0.
Let's be clear, we could have lost this game in the end. For all our attacking prowess, it's absolute tosh to rely on it. Brendan learnt that the hard way when we had Suarez tearing it up. We need to get balance, to keep clean sheets... As much as I like Klopp, he clearly is not the man to bring this.
But it's equally dangerous to put your emphasis on defence. Just as a good attacking side can occasionally misfire, a good defensive side can ship one or two with similar consequences. It''s just stating the bleedin' obvious that being good at both is best, but most teams are either one or the other. Having said all of that, I fully agree that our defence really has to improve, but I don't pretend to know how. Just a point - if Firmino hadn't missed that pen, the mood on here would be totally different. Fine lines.
That's why we need a balanced side. We have a team that people want to watch because there will always be goals in our games. We score lots (most of the time) and we concede lots. But we won't win anything because we cannot always rely on our attack to bail out our defence.
