Vaughan was playing at Bury, think that says it all about his quality as a striker at this present time.
When Maja and Watmore are fit were going to be relying on some very young shoulders to get us goals unless SG goes down the freebie striker path.

Just been reading a chronicle article (I know) about the "8 best strikers available free" - Almost every player on that list has been "released because of failing to score at [insert name of championship club]" or "released due to injury"

There are players I would have been interested in previously but they all look so much like they're past it. If Lambert stayed fit he'd be one worth having but he's been ravaged by injuries

It looks like everybody is just brushing it off 'cos we are only lacking putting the ball into the net'.

That's not going to be changing anytime soon, apart from unattached players there's nothing we can do to change it. We don't have a goalscorer and we don't have anybody who can come in and change that.

I don't see anything other than a struggle to stay in this division.

    Totally agree marra.....
The crazy part last night was that I was hoping SG would bring Rodwell on & hoy him upfront!!!
We were throwing crosses in and had umpteen corners... JR is a lazy bastard and I am no fan of his whatsoever however it made more sense than the subs he brought on.?!?

I'm brushing it all off because I've seen it coming a mile. Hard to get emotional when you've been prepping your head for 3 or 4 seasons. We wouldn't invest in what was needed in the prem, we ain't suddenly going to do it in this league where the value is even worse. Best chance is loaning a goalscorer in Jan, but I wouldn't hold your breath lads.

Rodwell is the best player we have in our squad at attacking set pieces with his head, so what you are saying makes perfect sense, to me <ok>

I meant just brushing off not having a goalscorer likes it's only a minor issue. It's getting played down when I think it's an enormous issue which could very well relegate us again.

We should have been planning for our 34 year old goal scorer leaving or retiring when we signing him from Toronto, but as I was pointing out, the way the club has been going, there's been no plans in place to invest in replacements. I know it's put us in a relegation fight, but I've been saying this the whole time too, Just explaining why I'm not up in arms mate. It's not that I don't give a ****, it's just I was worrying about these thing months ago. I've lost the will to live since. :p

I honestly think the two young lads we got from Everton need to be taken out of the firing line as they are just not up to the pressure situation we now find ourselves in.
We have enough experience in the back four now to give these lads a month out of the firing line and see if SG can lick them into shape on the training pitch.
If we can't score at one end of the pitch then its imperative we start keeping clean sheets.

If we cannot put it in their net at least keep it out of ours , that is one way of looking at it

So how do we tighten up? 8 out of our 11 goals conceded I believe are from individual mistakes.

Fine them two weeks wages every time a mistake leads directly to a goal, they'll soon learn and yes I know my suggestion is totally impracticable.

Fining people for making mistakes? PFA would get involved and the club would be thrown into further turmoil. Nobody would ever sign for us again and we'd be shamed. Nah, I'd skip that one mate. It would just open a whole new chapter of disaster. As much as it's appealing to never pay the ****ers again. I don't think fining players actually does **** all anyway, players don't seem to give a ****, not surprising given it's hardly as dent in their fortunes.
