Popped into Spain today. Barcelona was having a Catalonian independance vote parade (see BBC News), and it was wall-to-wall, so we stayed clear. After getting some low priced litres of Grants whisky (free chunky glass too) amongst other things, at the border, we proceded on down to Roses and a balmy 28ºC. White sands and sunshine, if a bit too touristy for my tastes, but we all enjoyed ourselves. Thete was a moment on the autoroute where one of our five suddenly decided that she ddidn't have her (just in case) passport, so we turned back. In the event it had slipped out of her bag into the car, and anyway we sailed on through without needing them. The EU lives and breathes.
Incidentally, I had an excellent chat with a young French chap on the plane down to Montpellier. We took the usual time to realise that each was approachable. He was hugely frustrated and sorry that us Brits were leaving Europe as a united colleague. When he realised, after a split second, that I was of his opinion, we became chatting friends. Yves shook my hand at the passport queue and we chatted about the disaster who is Trump through to bsggage. I, tongue-in-cheek said that perhaps I should go through the 'other passports' queue, but he said seriously that I should stay and talk through the EU section. And of course there were no problems. I wished Yves a wonderful rest of his life, and he gave me quite a hug. A few days later, in old Pezenas, I came across an ancient American, who has lived here for a year, having got out of the US because he hates Trump. A gentler guy I would have trouble finding. He asked me what I thought. I ended by saying that he'd had the best in Obama, and now was getting the worst. He agreed and shook my hand. So far this trip I've been meeting gentle, caring people without even trying. And it's been really great.
Love that TSS. If more people spoke to more strangers they came across, they'd meet a lot more gentle and friendly people than they'd realise. I always try to find a conversation on things like flights. As that communications company said once, its good to talk.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-41235131 I love this selfie of a macaque, but want to tear my hair out that Peta thought it was worthwhile to take the photographer to court as they thought the monkey had copyright. What would the monkey do with the money and how would it exploit the photograph anyway? And there was even a question over which monkey it was? Perhaps another monkey was also trying to steal the limelight! I think animals have rights that always should be considered...especially if they live in a specialised habitat and can't move elsewhere, but I get really annoyed about people who support a good cause, but never know quite where to draw the line before they enter stupidsville. Happening a lot at the moment.
https://uk.yahoo.com/news/staffie-mauled-owner-death-crack-cocaine-time-074447920.html The dog that killed its owner whilst a film crew were in the flat was high on crack cocaine. It was 8 times the drug-drive level....luckily the dog didn't have its car keys with it.
No working for 4 weeks at least which is the worst part as I've finally got my dream move to London and its ballsed that right up. Will be having surgery in a few months as well one moment of bad luck in a Sunday league match.
