So a left footed player on the right that can't cross with the right? Am I missing something with that statement? Grosicki has his best games on the right from memory last season, his best crosses came from the right. The cross for Markovic particularly stood out for me. So the whole theory makes no sense to me.
The assist for Robertson from the left was his best bit of skill by a mile. Perfectly timed and weighted delivery with his first touch under pressure.
You mentioned that Bowen had scored three times with his left (while playing on the right) - which is the great benefit of playing wingers on the 'wrong' side, namely that it gives them much better opportunities to score, coming in off the flank and shooting with their stronger foot. What you lose, of course, is the classical wing play of getting to the byline and crossing. I'm not saying one is better than the other - but if you're going to make a case for Bowen playing on the left, then mentioning his goals doesn't help your case.
Good point. I think with Bowen he's happy playing either side. He played on the left for the ressies whenever I saw him. Growshitski likes playing on the left and cutting in. Same as Snodgrass liked playing on the right and cutting onto his left.
Absolutely - Snodgrass is the epitome of the winger who detests playing on what you'd think would be his 'stronger' side.
Need to learn from Friday but realise it was one bad defeat, nothing more and get over it. Given our season-prep, we just have to keep clocking up the points until Xmas where we can (mainly at home). Losing at Fulham won't be a disaster and I'd be happy with a point. Regardless, I think we'll bag Sunlan on Sat and if we can keep strong at home, we'll give ourselves a chance. I still think we could make a push this season.
With that yes, but I'm thinking more along the lines of players crossing into the box like the old days for the strikers. Still whatever works!
Aina and Clark are a big problem played in those positions, even if you start with 12. I thought a daft set of posts had started so joined in out of boredom. You obviously don't do crosswords ...
Can't help thinking that we'll find this hard. With the injuries we have and the young unproven larkers still bedding in, along with us generally looking vulnerable away from home and against a pretty proficient side - got the feeling we'll get beat again. Hope these new lads settle soon and with confidence and experience start to shine, but I don't think we're that good anymore to be honest. Would take a draw. This is where you need a pragmatic Big Nige type performance, lift the mood all round with a defensively tight away win. Just think the squad has gaping holes all over the place.
Have a feeling we might just get something from this game tonight, let's hope my feeling are not misguided. Pleased TC not playing, he was really up for it the last time we played them at the KC, scoring on that occasion if I remember correctly.
