I haven't seen Ritchies challenge but it sounds like he should have gone.

It was similar to a challenge Nani did against Arbeloa in Uniteds Semi final against Real. Apart from United fans, everyone thought Nani should have gone.

Unfortunately there is a fine line in football challenges where milli seconds make a difference. Mane gets the ball without caching Ederson, at most its a high foul and a yellow. He might even not have blown and he'd have scored.

Barkleys challenge on Henderson last year (everyone said it was a red and the ref bottled it), a few milliseconds earlier and thats a run of the mill challenge. Because of the lateness and him catching hendo so late thats a red card challenge in everyones book.

If you're not sure you are going to get their first (even then we see people penalised for uncontrolled two footed challenges), you shouldn't be raising your foot and being reckless.

 

Moss is a crap ref. He had 9 and half minutes to make the decision but wanted to do it in 4 seconds with no consultation from any of his assistants.
