Thought the stand-outs were Merino and Clark, with Lascelles also having a solid game. First time I have seen Joselu and liked what I saw. Unlike some on here think Perez is better in away games. Thought he put in a good shift and started to get more space when things opened up. Gamez looked a bit out of position in first half but got a lot more space in 2nd as Swansea changed their shape.

All in all a very pleasing performance.

Looked well short of match fitness. Shouldn't have been playing really. I don't think the first team is the place to get your fitness up. He will be top class for them once fit.

Happy about the win but thought the performance was poor in the first half and indifferent in the second. We lost possession needlessly all game and only created two chances worthy of the name. I'll take a poor performance and a good result all day long but I wasn't impressed.

We were better than Swansea though.

Well impressed with the team effort! Just don't understand Hayden and Perez. Both can, at times, appear composed, but then will have matches like this to remind you of their follies.
First touch was the issue with both. Hayden was doing his best Diame impression and Perez constantly tries the most ridiculous skills before he contemplates anything else. His lack of strength was targeted by Swansea to good effect.
By the way Renato Sanches ISN'T all that

Bit of a stretch for me this. Carroll by far the best I've seen since Ferdinand.

Joselu is a decent workhorse. I have to say though I do think he is fairly limited. Good guy to have in and around the squad. Reminds me a bit of Sibierski. I still see more in Mitrovic if he could get his head screwed on properly. I think it will be a good competition between the two for that role we need away from home. If we had a first choice goalscorer then I think we'd have enough to be content with those two, Gayle. We just need that quality front man.

I think Joselu would benefit from a partner but it doesn't fit with the structured counter attack we are looking to play. Gayle would not do the work Perez does dropping in and working back and forth across the pitch. Perez hasn't been as good on the ball as we'd like but I think he is obviously clever enough ti understand tactical instructions and work for the team. Benitez will like him. Perhaps at home or when we are behind that is the braver option we could use.

Good effort from the boys and a good result.

BUT - all about how well Rafa has drilled them. Still think we would be better switching up the formation BUT based on yesterdays performance while it wasn't flawless it was workman like and the boys looked like a well oiled machine.

Chippy's usually "well oiled" as well but his performance doesn't even reach workmanlike standards, so I've heard!!!!

Not just Lascelles though is it?

Every player we sign or are linked with you rubbish as being not good enough/poor etc - you do actually understand that we don't have the money of the "big" clubs and therefore we need to buy players who fit within our budget

Like I said - either go support a different club if Newcastle aren't good enough for you, or stick to Football Manager

A lot better today - we didn't get a direct hit as the hurricane swung a bit North easterly rather than directly North after it made landfall.

Still had wind gusts around 100mph and sustained winds of around 50-55mph

Waiting the the last bits to clear through today - not much major structural damage where we are luckily and power still going

I was in Atlanta for Hurricane Opal and had winds very similar to that. We were in one of those old fashioned, red brick university dorms so we just had a hurricane party and got pissed and then got laid :)

Our building was fine, and no buildings nearby were destroyed by wind, though quite a few were taken out by pine trees. Hopefully it sounds like Tampa has faird a lot better than expected.

Hoping we can get back to our hotel on the beach tomorrow - our little evacuation detour has set me back about $900 so far.

I sense you are not happy with Ben10 chipping away at our players. Obi rang me and suggested you two guys get naked, lube up in grease, and wrestle to the death. He says he is happy to referee. He will also be lubed up, naked and promises to be very hands on to avoid dirty tactics.
