The Great Repeal Bill has, on the surface, decent intentions. Looking deeper at the actual wording, people are starting to realise that it could be used by the government to allow ministers to enact whatever changes to the law of the land they like - without needing the support of MPs. The scope of this bill is far greater than just the administrative alignment of EU regs into UK law. Those who've dissected it (not me) say it can be used for almost anything. That worries me. By aligning it with Brexit, you'd imagine they're hoping that those who supported Brexit will just assume that the objectors to this bill are Remainers, therefore Brexit supporters won't look too closely and just give it a free pass. I hope not. If it's decent legislation, it should be able to withstand scrutiny and be passed. If not, it deserves to be stopped.
Anything Brexit needs stopping. Apart from everything screwy with Brexit itself, the present Government seems unable to accomplish anything else while it's on their table. Their late reaction on Irma is just one example.
French company in the running to make new post Brexit British passport. YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP!!!!!!©Daily Mail and other fine media organs.
Blair's recent visit to Junckers in Brussels. Sharing a bottle of expensive vintage Margaux paid for by the EU taxpayer: Blair - I have this ingenious way of reversing Brexit. You offer the UK an absolutely **** deal, and I'll use my influences as a much loved and respected past prime minister to engineer a second referendum Junckers - Fine. It worked for Ireland and Denmark. I'll tell Barnier it's more of the same - be as annoying and intractable as possible. Blair - ...and about that offer of a senior position in the EU you mentioned? And introductions to the gravy train for all my children like the Kinnocks... Junckers - All yours and more, Tony, if you pull this off and we get the UK's deep pocket back. Now let's crack another bottle from the Commission's fat-cat wine cellar and then have breakfast
I have to agree with Stan. His fiction could never compete with Goldies. He doesn't have the flair for It.
On a serious note, this second referendum rubbish is pure fantasy. Blair is a @@@@ and a war criminal. The quicker he leaves this World the better.
If someone ever does try to kill him, expect a knock on the door Ellers. Sounds like a very sophisticated plot Goldie. Can you do one which shows what happens in cabinet?
Blair is irrelevant and untrustworthy. However, he seems to have become an easy stick to use to poke Brexiteers with so they act without thinking and don't question the motives of the people (theoretically on the same side as themselves) who are doing the poking.
His obituary won't read well, nor Alistair Campbell's. If I was them, I wouldn't sleep well over Iraq, but then, they have no conscience. New Labour's immigration policy and gross miscalculation over Eastern Europe (on a prediction that 13000 would arrive) is one of the key causes of Brexit
It's a pretty stupid cause given it was mostly voted for by the people least adversely affected by it. Man of the people Rees-Mogg will lead us to a bright future.
Which, given the state the Conservatives are in, probably makes him a shoe-in... More to the point, this is all a bit of a sideshow right now with the Great Repeal Bill (aka "take power forever now") looming over us all.
Old names new names We can only guess at best what is going on. Imo the UK is making a complete mess of this and is again the joke of Europe. Worst still is that they can blame any lack of progression in the process back at Brussels feeding the UK public Honestly how thick can we be falling for the same old tricks Get on with your jobs The government is miles away from reality imo and it will again down to businesses to find ways around any systems introduced On the passports I can give a few ideas the UK company I work for designs/ prints the lions share of everything government and we for the first time are losing contracts all over the place. Safe contracts are all going over to Europe I tell you this is big and very serious as operations in the UK as most businesses are run close to the bone Losing contracts on this scale wipes out many jobs Some of our politicians really need re education as recently heard one talking about electricity and in a flippant way was talking about how much we need to buy in as if that is easy ... where exactly are you buying it from ? Oh that would be France British Gypsum (French owned) buys in Gypsum from Portugal and delivers it to the mines because its cheaper than mining in Sussex Mate at BG has announced to me they are looking into moving to France as they make a load more selling European standard French manufactured plasterboard at nine times the price back to the crazy UK housing market who won't be able to use any standards as they haven't got any UK standards Uk sites would just be low labour storage/distribution and of course won't be allowed to mine Crazy stuff but an example how businesses are not waiting for this shambles to deliver
