500 test wickets for Jimmy Anderson. <applause> <bubbly> What a player he's been for England.

Looking at the Division 1 table, mathematically anyone from Hampshire downwards could be relegated. However with the elements likely to play a big part in the proceedings, it is between Yorkshire, Middlesex and Somerset with the latter two playing against each other in the final round. I shall cheer on Somerset as they were cruelly robbed of the Championship last year. I need to do some Maths but could Essex win the title, such is their lead, if their last three matches were totally wiped out by the weather?

This could be interesting given how tight it is at the bottom end of League 1. Picture the scene after the completion of fixtures. Somerset finish one point ahead of Middlesex because of the points deduction. This is assuming that Yorkshire, Hampshire and Surrey finish higher in the table. Would be the second successive season with a points deduction having an impact on the relegation issue.

Non-story. Points get deducted for slow over-rates every season (usually it's us! Fidel and Tino don't half take an age to bowl an over). Yes Middlesex were unlucky that the incident meant that they couldn't rush throw a few overs of spin to help get their over-rate back, but in reality is that much difference to the heaven's opening, and a team being denied the chance to bowl further overs quickly as a result? Middlesex got themselves into a minus position in the first place.

You may have missed (though not sure how as you post regularly) that for sometime, posting in blue ink is used to show an obviously sarcastic or not true opinion.

I think it went over your head :)

Jimmy himself reckons he can go on until he's 40! He only plays Test cricket after all, never plays county or limited overs cricket. Doesn't have any weight or injury issues, so why not? He could probably overtake Glenn McGrath as the leading fast bowler if he stays in form.

Jut looking at who the ECB have made available for the final three rounds of matches, in relation to the impact on us:

Away to Middlesex: Crane available. Dawson unavailable. Roland-Jones and Finn available. Malan unavailable. (Meanwhile, we should be without Bailey, and Middlesex should be without Stirling and Murtagh)

Home to Essex: Crane and Dawson available. Westley available. No decision over Cook yet.

Away to Warks: Crane and Dawson available. Woakes unavailable.

I would assume he's in the England T20 squad playing the West Indies.

England t20 is the day after (this Saturday). I was hoping that the ECB would still let him play. It's not like he's just played in the test series, and how much warm-up is really required for a one-off t20? Surely, ahead of sorting out the ashes squad, giving the fringe players like Dawso as much four-day cricket as possible is a good thing?
