If he'd have gone in with his head he would've been the one getting injured as the keeper comes out to punch the ball away usually with his knee up to protect himself.

Six of one half a dozen of the other.

It was outside the area, the keeper came to head it and was successful <ok>

It was only just outside the area, but as has been said, he was entitled to go for the ball and as he did so in a dangerous manner he was punished with a red card.

    THE END.:emoticon-0100-smile

The rule is that it was dangerous play and it deserved a red card. Intent or malice is irrelevant.

    End of.

    Enough of the red card.

Donga mentioned earlier - the reaction to the red card was pathetic from both the players and Klopp.

Conceding a second just before half time killed us, and Klopp's substitutions made no sense.

Let's hope we get a reaction against Sevilla.

Sometimes it is a self fulfilling prophecy. Like I said at the time of the sending off wehad to be careful about getting a good hiding. Our players seemed to give up against a team they consider a mighty superior force. Instead of regrouping they lost their heads. It was time to defend, concentrate. Our defence was intact. Let them keep the ball longer in the middle. TAA was found out but no surprise he is still learning. Klavan had always been unreliable under pressure and mignolet is not exactly world class.

As for our attack, apart from the disappointment in Mane who surely has to think twice about these rash tackles, I have to mention Salah. He was 1 on 1 with the gk twice early in the game. He scores one of these chances we have a different game. The guy is fast and went through a City defence like butter but he just missed that ruthless finishing. May be that could explain the lower price we paid compared to the likes of Morata and Lukaku.

I watched most of the game in the pub before our debacle.

The red card shouldn't gloss over what was a ****ing awful defensive display for you lot. The opening goal summed it up, one simple ball played centrally from about 45 yards from your goal with your back 4 in a line and yet Aguero is somehow one on one with your keeper, that's school boy defending

And the majority of us, indeed all of us who were 'discussing' the incident with Diego, have no complaints with the decision.

Absolutely the point Tobes, absolutely. Now that I've slept on it, I think it's even worse. I think had there been no sending off we'd still have conceded 3 or 4. True, we'd have scored a couple too, but I have doubts that, however good our attack can be (even though it does have a finishing weakness) that if we go toe-to-toe in a slugging match with top class teams such as City and the CL (God help us) then we're going to concede more than we score, even if it gets to ice-hockey results.
