Match Day Thread Saints vs Watford 09/09/2017 3PM KO

Kammie on SSN saying PRECISELY what I (and many others) have been saying for months - Gabbiadini making run after run after run and not once has a midfielder tried to play him in.

I'm not even watching but am still frustrated. It all seems so simple eh? Give the manager an armchair, like the ones us experts utilise.

 

Our attacking play is shocking.

 

Worst, most pathetic half of football I have seen for ages. Much worse than Puel. No sideways passing because no passing at all.

 

We're playing WATFORD at HOME - pull your ****ing fingers out! (my half time speech over)

 

On the bright side: we haven't wasted a chance yet this match!

 

Very odd tactical choices today, we're playing a very small XI without much pace so we can't dominate the ball OR counter attack. Completely loosing the midfield battle physically, I would have brought on Lamina 10 minutes ago, if he doesn't come on at half time we haven't got a hope in this one.

 

I wondered that myself. I don't think he was at fault but he really does move incredibly slowly at times.

Big turn around needed. Get a grip on the game, get the equaliser.

 

So that's 1 goal from open play in 9 halves of football. That is appalling and simply has to improve.

 

We are getting worse game by game. no energy at all.

 

It looks like we could score only by accident.

Watford completely dominated the midfield. JWP is nowhere to be seen, can't get hold of the ball between Doucure and Chalobah. That why Davis with all his faults is better there than JWP. At least he can find some pockets of space and keep hold of the ball. This match cries for Lemina, they are physically dominating us and we need some steel in the squad. So Lemina for JWP imo.

Also probably Tadić for Boufal. Boufal was a bit isolated and we haven't seen him much. He's also better on the left, but Redmond is there so...

I guess our defence was the only positive, all four are a having a good game, Stephens in particular.

 

I don't like any fudge which is why I use it as an epithet...

 

Did anyone enjoy anything about that? I guess a purist could say Watford want to play football, ecen of we clearly aren't sure about the rules...

 

To be fair Redmond tried once. The attempted through ball went straight to the feet of a Watford defender but he did try...

Redmond looks like he's waiting for things to happen instead of making them. JWP looks like a headless chicken today. We may as well drop Gabbi because we just can't play to his strengths. Oriol looks, for 1st time, rusty!?
