Nasri will play against Liverpool - in the centre of the park imo.

Is this the Wenger who said Cesc was not leaving?

And what happens after the match?

    What happens next Wednesday?

Will he still be here this time next year or would we be £20m+ short because he walked away for nothing?

We need players now IMO if Nasri played tomorrow and we beat Lpool, and he left next week when we had bought someone good, I wouldn't give a hoot...

Indeed. If he is fit to play he should play - he is easily part of our starting 11.

  7. Yeah I would love to win the league as well my friend but do you think this is a realistic proposition?

We start this season with less strength and in lower numbers that we ended the last and you know what happened at the last, it's trend seemingly carried throughout the close season. I would love to win the EPL. It's a bigger prize to me than the CL but it is not a realistic goal on what we currently have, is it?

Going back to Nasri being in the squad and available to be picked for a moment. I think it's a ploy by Wenger to either up the price on Nasri or at any rate, get the deal done with City. It wouldn't surprise me if he was pushing for more money but I'm speculating.

This is another of Wenger's 'King Canute' statements, he said the same last week about Cesc and Nasri.

According to Sky Soprts News Nasri is close to signing for Citeh today.

If he keeps this up it may be time for the men in White Coats to arrive to take away to the loony bin.

Not with the current squad. I think they are top 4 standard but not champions standard. If we bring in a couple more top quality players though then i don't belive it is out of our grasp.

For example if Nasri remains at the club and we signed Vertonghen as cover at the back and signed a top quality striker to compete with RVP then i would say we are in with a shout at the title.

  10. We had Nasri for the past three years. I appreciate that he was developing but last year, he was nearly invisible after December. He has wonderful talent but I don't know if this is an annual-long characteristic. That he already wants to go would not make me want to risk another year of perhaps less than stellar commitment. If he were to sign an extension then I think we would all know how he feels about the club. As it is, it's pretty variable at best. Selling Nasri would give us enough to get someone else in. Remember that s o far into this season we have lacked the creative element that wins the ball and feeds our forward line. Cesc could do this but his heart was not in it. Nasri? I'm afraid I'm even less sure.

I saw a headline somewhere earlier this morning that Wenger was hoping for a Cesc return. It could be a rehash of come old article. I don't know as I didn't look into it. But here's another thing. Why bring back someone who has left because he wanted to be elsewhere. In David Dein's case he was pushed out and still considers himself ' on the bench '. Cesc wanted out. It seems, Nasri too.

If he in the squad, he should be starting. No point him being on the bench. Maybe he will develop a groin strain overnight !!!

<laugh> Precisely my point...... With talks with citeh at an advanced stage (allegedly), why would you want to risk playing him, then again in the squad is not the same as him starting/playing...... The bench is thread-bare, B52 was on the bench on Tuesday, and there was no chance of him coming on.....

@omogooner - Firstly your assuming that reports are correct about the status of the transfer. Personally i haven't seen any evidence that convinces me of the transfer. But at the same time i'm not naive enough to think there have been no discussions taking place.

I'd play him regardless - what are the chances of him getting an injury that is so bad City don't buy him? Baring in mind that if they don't buy him now there is no guarantee they will get him next season as he can play clubs off against each other when he is out of contract. Unless he breaks his leg i recon they'd buy him even if he did pick up an injury in the game.

And if he did break his leg he'd end up re-signing for us anyway so as not to risk his career failing hard when he comes back from injury and teams won't offer him the same wages as he represents a bigger risk if returning from injury.

So yeah, i'd play him anyway. As far as i'm concerned we need to just focus on winning games and if Nasri helps that then put him in the team.

by leaving Nasri out against Newcastle but putting him in the squad tomorrow, Wenger has basically gone from trying to prove a point to realising that his team's situation is such that he can't aford to prove his point to Nasri - unless, of course, he's just doing it to spite City

He'll be playing Nasri as he needs some creativity in the midfield and we have several suspensions/injuries to deal with.

This suggests to me that AW knows we are thin on creativity in midfield and makes me more confident we will be signing a CM.

As far as i'm aware Samir Nasri is still contracted to Arsenal Football Club and as such if fit he should be playing

  17. Arsene makes me laugh. Well, it's better than crying when he has this to say of Samir Nasri -

    Source- http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...nal-fans-shouldnt-question-nasris-commitment?

Yes Arsene, so much commitment that he refuses to sign a new contract. :emoticon-0138-think

Think he means Nasri is commited to performing well for the club. Just because he has had his head turned by the lure of doubleing his wages doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy playing at Arsenal.

  19. Well my friend

If the fans get on his back I doubt if he would even want to come out.

It's time to move on I reckon. Start afresh but that would be so unWenger.

What's odd about Wenger's statement? I'm sure he was avilable to be picked against Newcastle too. As long as we pay his wages he will play in any game we ask him to! If we choose not to use him it's most likely because his mind is elsewhere and Arsene thinks he'll be a liability. I'd rather play a youngster who wants to play his hardest than someone with an eye on a move and new paycheque.
