Article on BBC website saying they have voted to close the window on the Thursday before their season kicks off next year. If anyone can paste the whole article there is a bit more too it, sorry my computer skills aren't clever enough to do it.
Good idea if other European leagues follow suit. If not it could cause issues with the likes of Barca, Real PSG Bayern plucking top players from the Premier leaguw after English window has closed. Interesting to see what happens to the football league window.
Just heard this on the radio. Still open for oversea transfers after this date but not for domestic. The feeder leagues are deciding next week if they will follow suite. Apparently some premier league clubs (nk) voted against this change. I think there should be no transfers in or out anywhere after this closure date.
Man Utd, City and Chelsea all voted against it according to Sky - Burnley abstained. I think it's a great idea, but as said previously, we need all other windows closing too to make it worthwhile. It will stop the big boys from trying to prise the better lower league players away after the season starts mind.
This is the issue, it can't be one rule for one and one for the rest for me. Say Barca come in for a player who will obviously want to go it leaves the selling club short with a shed load of money burning a hole in their pocket.
Aye it's true - but it states in the guardian that that is what will/could happen!! As much as I am in favour of the window closing early, it needs to close early for everyone - what chance will any English club have in the Champions League if their team can be pilfered after their last signing is made? Bit like what happened to us with Gyan!
I've seen things suggesting that the Italian league could follow with a vote. I hope so because if one of the other major European countries stands with us the rest will surely follow. I could even see some form of uefa deadline set and all members have to abide it. I was surprised that this wasn't the case already.
If this change was for all transfers (not just domestic) -a ringfenced closure, there would be no need for concerns with other countries transfer windows - but it seems to easy for the FA to impose.
I think if teams compete in common competitions (ie champions league etc) they should all have the similar transfer windows and when closed remain shut for all transfers.
