For me, our problem has been the formations used so far. Both the 4-1-4-1 and the 3-5-2 are extremely vulnerable to counter-attacks. Reed can't hold the midfield on his own once we lose possession. Vrancic and Steidermann are both more comfortable going forward, as are Pinto and Husband. Trybull may be an option for providing more protection but I'd rather see Tettey brought in with Reed given more liberty to make the link with forward players. We can't go on losing games while the new players adjust to this league. Tettey knows it and is our best player at breaking up counter attacks. If we lose against Birmingham our season is already virtually over as we spend the next few months trying to get away from relegation.

He is such a class player as well. Gutted for them, I think he would be an upgrade on Drinkwater.

They were saying on Talksport this morning, that although he can't register for Leicester, He is their player. They would have to pay his wages. That can't be right can it?! Is he unable to play for anyone until January at the moment then?

Yea, that's what I said earlier. I can see that being the best way to give us a strong core, and to help our new defence, until they settle into the club and country, and hopefully improve.

Tettey actually had a very good second half of last season.
I was never his biggest fan but he was reminiscent of Bradley Johnson, apart from the goals of course. He should be in the team in my opinion.

Praise indeed for my 'hero' from Andy Head in yesterday's MFW article - "Maddison provides a level of comfort on the ball that we haven’t seen in the heart of the City midfield for many a long year, and which has already earned him many a cynical ankle tap from bemused opposition. His ability to slalom in and out of challenges and maintain control of the ball before finding a colleague has been one of the plus points of the season thus far.
Originally billed as a straight-forward number 10, Maddison has played much deeper than expected, and there’s a sense that both he and Farke are trying to define exactly what his role should be. Going forward, I’d like to see him develop into the mould of a Gascoigne, using his ability to wriggle away from challenges, and his passing to create chances for others. It’s imperative that we provide a solid base for him to play though, because without a strong defensive midfielder behind him, he looks vulnerable to losing the ball and this removes his ability to try creative things and take people on."

Some excellent comments following the article as well.

Talking about needing some bite to our midfield. I just heard on a football podcast that Joe Ledley hasn't got a club at the moment! Which I'm really surprised by. Worth a punt? I think I need a really physical, hardworking bruiser option in our squad. Great experience. I'd like to see us give him a call.

Early news from today's presser - Klose and CJ both fit for selection for tomorrow.

If he's going to use a back 3 I'd like to see Hanley, Klose & Zimmerman. But I can't see him starting GH and TK together with no previous game time together. Which suggests to me Mr Martin may well feature - yet again? :emoticon-0145-shake

Yes Cromer, I think it may be too soon for GH to start, so we may well see Martin in the starting 11 AGAIN!!! <doh>
I wouldn't be too surprised to see CJ in the starting 11 too and I wouldn't be too concerned if that happened.

So, an hour to go before the team, including Russell Martin, no doubt, is announced.
Anyone know who's co-commentating on radio Norfolk today?

Well that's a surprising team! Not seen enough of Spiderman, Or Trybull. But, Trybull is a defensive midfielder isn't he?

Great to see Pinto, Klose, Tetty, Josh Maddison and Olivera all in there.
