I live in the USA mate and I know what I'm talking about. Two countries separated by a common language. My wife ( from Harlan,Kentucky) and I have been together for 38 years......and we both have problems.
But I do like the ladies telling me I have such a lovely accent.......and I'm from Tottenham!.....but my sister always told people that I tried speaking like the BBC!

    Oh sister! How could you?

I can understand him wanting to stay and fight for his place, after all the report doesn't mention him refusing a transfer to Kvetch Brom, but there does seem tobe a gap in the story's logic.

Of course the obvious question is whether or not we brought in Llorente to mentor Janssen off the pitch. If not...I hate to say it, as the guy seems to be trying and the squad seem to like him, but pack your bags Vin.

The oh-so-reliable (note sarcasm) Sportskeedia is saying we're in for Andre Gomes.

What they failed to disclose is whether this means we'll be back in for him in January, or they're just recycling week-old stories that lost all relevance due to the transfer window closing...

From next year, the transfer window for Prem sides will end before the start of the season.

    Mixed views for me.

It's good that sides can no longer take advantage of a poor start and thus panic buy which then messes up another club.

However, the fact that teams in Europe will still have their windows open leaves clubs us open to potentially losing players to sides abroad.

Doesn't worry me to be honest. Just need a competent Board in place that realises this and works accordingly. Get you business done, communicate to players that there is a transfer window in place and that no-one is moving to teams abroad outside of it. Let it be known that you are not entertaining any bids for players that are not for sale once the Prem window has shut. Like it or lump it really.

Football governing bodies and a lot of boards/owners are living in the dark ages to be honest and common sense has taken flight. Boards and owners have to start taking a tougher stance with players, agents and other clubs that are using their money and influence to bully others. Time to stick two fingers up at them. There are fewer clubs with wealth than those without it but they cannot survive without all the others. The few big clubs sulking and taking their ball away to play in a Super League will soon leave them looking stupid as audiences dwindle for a competitive closed shop that just features the same clubs playing each other over and over again.

For us, I think this is brilliant. It's could help us to not drop loads of points in the first 3-4 games of the season. Also, with DL as our chairman, and the long term contracts our players get tied to, he's likely to refuse any business at the end, knowing he can't get any replacements.

For other clubs, however, this could be an issue. Which is also great for us!

    Short answer
Well maybe the various Premier League clubs shouldn't have voted to have the window close so early...

    Long answer
An obvious flaw in the idea can be found by doing nothing more than checking the dates of the opening fixtures in the major leagues of Europe, which are as follows...
    Ligue 1: 4th August
Primeira Liga: 9th August (yes, really)
    Premier League/Eredivisie: 12th August
    La Liga/Bundesliga/Serie A: 20th August

Imagine if it was Ligue 1 or the Primeira Liga that brought in this rule, which would leave clubs open to between two and three weeks of clubs queuing up to exploit the rules to sign their players and leave them well and truly in the lurch, something which could be especially beneficial given the possibility of weakening a potential Champions League opponent by spiriting away one of their key players while leaving the club with no chance of replacing them - and we know full well there are clubs that scummy they would consider it, as a cursory glance at Groups A and D of this season's Champions League will demonstrate.

    Smartass answer
So the chairmen of Premier League clubs couldn't handle the regular Levyings and went crying to teacher? Pathetic!

I think you guys will be very pleased with Llorente . Big game , big play player . Only needs a sniff to score and seems to score a lot of big late game goals . I think a " Super Sub " role is best .Good luck with another title search .

Thanks mate. Totally agree Llorente is a very astute signing for Spurs and his experience will be a real positive for our young squad. Class player.

Renato Sanchez is a really exciting signing for you guys and a real coup. Hopefully Bony hasnt lost his mojo at City, if he can get back to his former self then Swansea will b fine this season. All the best (apart from when we play each other).

Was buzzing to get him mate, never thought we'd be able to attract someone of the calibre of Llorente to basically come in as a likely second choice striker. Always been a fan of his. One of the best surprise deadline day signings we've done in my opinion - well I at least hope it works out that way!

What do you do with a problem like Vincent Janssen? Well, the problem that is Diego Costa has saved us. The erstwhile Chelsea striker has refused to go to Turkey........so, today's news is..........

It seems that Vinnie is on a plane to Turkey as we speak. It's being widely reported that we've agreed a loan deal with Fenerbahce for the big lummox......sorry, Dutchman.

Didn't someone on here predict just that a week ago? Who was that?

Depends how serious RvP's knee injury really is.
