It's just me & Mrs Jasper , one of the best things about the nights drawing in , is we get to use the Slow Cooker , a fantastic bit of kit
Irma is coming to get me. Several of the projected paths show it coming to South Carolina now. Either making landfall first on Florida before coming back ashore in SC or heading straight for us. Hopefully I'm far enough inland to not get the worst should it come here. ... Or if it does come here hopefully Florida will weaken it for us (sorry Florida). Think I'm going to cut down my pine trees this weekend. The soil on our property is this weird looking pure white sand (where there is no shade so the grass won't grow it looks like a beach but no water). Almost nothing grows on it except small turkey oaks and pine trees. The turkey oaks are too small to damage my house but I've probably a half dozen pine trees Irma could knock on the house.
Not really, but if it's looking like it's coming for us I'll go visit my parents, they're 200 miles inland from coast so almost certainly safe.
Shame to cut down trees, but safety comes first if you really think it might get that bad. Take care.
We still have bridges, dams, and roads closed down from the floods late 2015 that they called the "1000 year flood". We're probably still a few years from recovering from that flood completely. Rain won't hurt my house specifically, I'm at top of a hill, but hurricane force winds could. Fortunately I have a brick house (most are vinyl in the US) and it's not an old house, so I'll be better placed than most. They're actually really ugly trees. Tall, skinny, and the needles only grow really thin and at the very top of the tree. Branches below the top few feet die and break off. Wouldn't mind cutting them down so they don't compete with the other trees. The only other trees that survive in the sand here are all short 8' trees but at least they're more attractive, block out the neighbours and give a little shade. The pine trees look like little more than tall skinny posts.
. I actually suggested if just category 1 by time it got to us, I'd stay home and look after cats and she can go with kids. She didn't like that idea. I will suggest she stays instead.
Don't worry trump will fix it all with his infrastructure works. And when the autobahns and railways are built he can transport all the dreamers to camps and kerp thrm from the good people
