shows what you know everyone knows that according to the mayan high priestesses it will all happen on a monday
As I've said before, predictions are very different to statements of fact. Just have a look through Roller's thread of OUR predictions for the Bolton and Everton games for the scope involved in the process... Months ago, amidst all the confusion, frustration, anger and aridity, Cerny B popped up with a sign that spelt 'rescue and respite' with the subtext 'imminent'. Not a word from the media ITKs until much more recently. Not having experienced Cerny B on 606, I was extremely sceptical - and with no news coming through and Cerny having disappeared off the scene after that one original post, I put up a thread entitled 'Bring Me the Cred of CernyBerny'... It went down like a lead balloon. Out came the believers reminding us that Cerny B had a reputation for getting the majority of predictions right and we should bide our time. It was as if I'd committed a blasphemy! The odd thing is that when he returned to posting and his takeover prediction snowballed with hints and confirmations of such activity coming from key players (Eccles for example), the doubters championed by Col took to the stage and added a new dimension to a phenomenon! The difference between me and the Col group is the difference between spirit and word. We speculate that Cerny B's reluctance to give specifics must have something to do with his need to protect his source(s). Maybe so but I note that his detractors concentrate on the words used (like 'Mordy' etc.) and pounce when likelihood fades... When it comes to understanding communications (let alone predictions) the words used are often ill-chosen and consequently mislead. For me, we have to look for the meaning of the message, what a person is trying to say. The spirit of Cerny B's message was stuff's happening and you're going to be pleased with the outcome. This said at a time when it was literally all doom and gloom with no prospect of a return to quality leadership. Was Cerny B's 'prediction' right? If you take the spirit of the message, of course it was - yesterday's press conference proved it. SOMETHING was happening and more importantly we are very happy with the outcome. Should Col apologise for doubting Cerny B's predictions? No way Jose! From the time he departed the cryptic (a bit!) and got into specifics, e.g. 'no interest from Mittal whatsoever', Cerny B put himself on Col's territory and inevitably lost ground. Drawn game in the battle of the pedants imo. Thanks to Cerny B, and Col, for providing us with an entertaining sideshow relieving us of our endless miseries and replacing them with hope and intrigue. I would only add that next time we are looking to predictions (weather forecast, horoscopes, tarot, pools panel, Cerny B etc.), go for the general meaning of the forecast and take perceived specifics with a pinch of salt. In other words venture out aware of the forecasted stormy conditions as opposed to staying in because it's definitely gonna be pissing all over you tomorrow! Predictions are just that. If the future could be accurately foretold it would no longer be the future!
Everyone knew that the Goons were looking to sell ages ago,so it was obvious that someone would eventually buy them out. This was not a prediction it was a fact. The only other predictions made by Cerny were the buyer would be Mordy(it wasn't),Mittals' would no longer be involved(they are),and that everyone would be happy with the outcome. As long as the Goons went i don't think it would have mattered to most of us who took over,we were still goingto be happy with the outcome. Cryptic clues are one thing, guessing is another. If someone is genuinely in the know fine but give us real facts instead of torturing us with what might be!
Superbly put, Northolt. It'll be something better than a cheese sandwich, less pricy than a Lobster Thermidor, and it'll be eaten on Friday - FACT!
Listen here Northolt, some of us require more than a curled up cheese and pickle on white bread you know! You need to get out more - for a proper lunch!!
Oooo! Curled up cheese and pickle on white bread... now you're talking Wubs! Real homeboy grub, none of all that pretentious crap. Got me in the scullery digging through me larder now!! 'Food glorious food...'
Pretentious? Moi?? Nothing pretentious about a decent bit of Haddock on a Friday Brixton. You lot are a foodie backwater, I don't know why I bother!
Spot on Hammersmith. For Cerny to say he 'intended' yetserday as being the Thursday in question is nothing short of astounding. He's provided entertainment, but not a shred of fact or insight - just pure speculation any of us could have come up with. He also hasn't been quick in coming forward and explaining why Mordy isn't involved and why the Mittal clan have come to the forefront again.....Cerny?
Been a tad busy guys and only just got on here. I think my over-riding emotion is that I really don't care about Cerny's predictions anymore. The takeover looks great for us and I, along with everyone else, including Cerny I'm sure, have renewed optimism for the future. Most people have pointed out the following: Cerny said an announcement was going to happen weeks ago - it didn't! Cerny said Mordy was the buyer - he's not! Cerny said Paladini was gone - he clearly wasn't at that time! Cerny said the Mittals were no longer interested - they are! Cerny said that I should get on line after the announcement at the Bolton game - there was no announcement! My main beef Cerny is that you're too cryptic mate. You say something that you know we all want to hear but don't follow it up, instead leaving everyone to dangle on the hook! You also post that you haven't said something when it's clear for all to see that you have. In fact, that's the most annoying thing for me! Perhaps you could apologies for this mate? As for me......I really don't feel that you're due an apology from me. Lastly, I'm sure you care just as much about our club as I do, so I'm more than happy to wipe the slate clean between you and I.
Very magnanimous Col - in a list of offences kinda way! Important correction: 'Cerny said Paladini was gone - he clearly wasn't at that time!' According to another ITK, Amit Bhatia earlier today, Paladini's still very much with us - just not as Chairman... Joker's got nine lives!
