Granted it's a different sport but I done Karate up to about when I was 13 or so. I entered a mini tournament where a few dojos pitted some of their kids up against one another and in my two fights I faced two completely different sizes. One was much bigger and taller, the other fairly smaller in frame but similar in height. Drew the first, won the second. We had pads and head gear but even so it didn't really feel right to be fighting different sized people. Was also due to fight in Spain but a week before we flew out the tournament got cancelled so ended up just going for a holiday, and although I can't be 100% sure, I think it was based purely on belt ranking than weight but I could be wrong on that seeing as it never went ahead.
