If, and it's a mighty but if, Couthinho doesn't return from Brazil after their WC game on Tuesday he is in breach of his contract, what would our options be if that was the case? Do we still own him until his contract runs out no matter what he does?
Ah, but if we did that he'd be free to sign for Barca(or any other club)wouldn't he? If so we only won the battle and he'll have won the war....
Yes. Under FIFA rules and contract law that's exactly the position, no matter what Diego's fevered imagination/desires delude him to think. We could also sue him and his agent too.
Good point. Legally we are entitled to sue him and to fine him every week he doesn't turn up. But would we want to destroy an asset we now know is worth at least £120m and possibly much more to a certain Spanish club? My sense is the club (manager and executives) would go out of its way to build bridges.
Why would he not come back? He's not that type and he'd ruin his chances of playing in the WC after missing out in his home country 4 years ago.
Cos the press are being racist and seeing costa is a Brazilian so coutjnho must be exactly the same and about to do the same.....
I think Chelsea threats to sue costa are to be taken seriously . They were vindictive in pursuing mutu to the ends of the earth nearly for punitive damages intended to bankript the guy after chelsea themselves sacked the player then realised he could jojn any ckub tgat would take him. So.... Diego Costa is in real danger of bring sued. But... coutjnho hasn't done anythibg
I do have a bit of sympathy with Costa. Told via text that's he's not in managers plans next season so he wants a move... then Chelsea don't sell him in the window so he's left in limbo. Comes back and won't play, Chelsea shot thenswlves in the foot really.
Yes but so has he. He is contractually obligated to attend work, and he's pissed off Chelsea so that is why he has not moved
I feel sorry for Coutinho too. His dream move to Barcelona, Liverpool getting the 2nd biggest fee in the world ever and now they won't let him move. Poor lads dreams over
yes but this is the lads dream move . In all honesty though, Costa is on strike because we told him he's not in our plans and he's decided he wants to move to atletico on the cheap. Imagine if i don't know, Sahko went on strike and stayed in france to party because Klopp told him he wasn't in his plans anymore and said i want to go to United for 10m and i'm not going anywhere else and will go on strike, most of you boys would call him a nob (most do already) and then expect Liverpool to do all they can to make his life hell
Well that has to be the WORST attempted comparison ever 1. Sakho never did anything bar send silly social media messages 2. You and atletico are not rivals at all so... whats the lfc utd stuff about. Go back and try again.
Just waiting for the bubble to burst. The incredible amounts being offered turned down: £60m for a player who has only one year left on his contract and desperate to move, £120m and possibly more turned down for a player who has said he didn't want to play for his manager anymore and wanted a move to another club, £92m turned down by a player with potential. The funny thing is that for all PSG and others spending the money worth of the CL trophy is not even close to a premiership league seat. but for the top clubs it is more than money. It is the prestige of being part of the elite. Sooner or later the whole pack of cards will collapse once that single card (tv money) is removed and we'll see which clubs remain standing.
I agree. Which is why if barca actually offered anything like what they want people to believe they offered we should have sold. Barca offered us the equiliant of 16million this year... you cannot accept that period.
Yes but Sahko didn't refuse to to train or come back from holiday even though he was never getting another chance with Klopp. You guys wouldn't even sell him on the cheap in either window which Costa is demanding Sahko didn't limit himself to one club saying i will only move to so and so Costa is annoyed and that is understandable, but he's trying to decide who he moves to and for how cheap. When has that ever happened. Whilst he does that he's having a party in brazil
