Just reading how Barca have come out and publicly thanked Coutinio for trying to force his move to them . Football has got to do something about this type of behaviour (across the board).

That's correct Archers, but it's also factual he was never our player and we never bid for him in the TW, so why has this thread ran as long as it has?



In all honesty Saints as a club has made their resolve known that the player in question was bound by his contractual agreement and wasn't going anywhere.

 

The thread has run as long as it has because there has been a constant stream of media stories for us to comment on. Your lads coming on here and geeing us up a bit has contributed too!....

One of the reasons this thread has run so long is that we have had a number of visitors from the Liverpool not606 board going on and on about how it was only a matter of time before Virgil signed for you, despite the Southampton board (that's the club, not this one) making their position perfectly clear, once Klopp's antics had been exposed. Even after your club issued the apology and promised that they had no further interest in Virgil, it carried on, with former Liverpool players prominent among those that wouldn't let it go.

As it has turned out, it was a non-story right from the start, and all the ravings and rantings from Liverpool fans, former players, and other media buffoons were completely irrelevant and futile. Virgil was not for sale, ever, at any point. Now everyone knows that and we've had 276 pages of wasted time, but I would guess the whole thing will start off again in January. Those pundits have got to "earn" their money somehow, I suppose.

 

Fenwick has been in Trinidad for quite a while doing coaching and TV work ,Roberts was here doing some youth work,he has camps in numerous Caribbean islands.....I think they met doing some tv interviews promoting the youth camps.

 

I think Lff this is a great example of the Board not being able to win.

Tbh, I think you've been making a fair effort not to understand the points that have been made. I don't want to jump all over your view Lff, but bloody hell. What is there that isn't crystal clear.? Yet you will hear the opinion of a complete dobat like Paul Merson, who has probably never thought a concept properly through in his entire life, and call it a reasonable stance. When the guy clearly knows nothing about the situation at Southampton FC.

For instance, you make some vague reference to there being no winners.? What on earth does that mean.? Southampton win, You've won, Middle-sized clubs have won, Competition has won, Football has won. Obviously no winners there then. There is also the club to player power struggle that had been going one way only, way out of balance, and has now made a slight turn around.
Yes, this probably all starts again in January, and the same stance has to be made until the message gets through permanently. Players have to start honouring their contracts and glamour clubs will not have all their own way. There must be proper competition or football is done for.

 

1600 - 2000. Its great though; thumping tackles with no complaints, no diving, no sitting down, no surrounding the referee. I've worked out that its more physical because the 'first touch' isn't Premier League standard so the ball is often there to be got at. And, whoever is the chef at Eastleigh is seriously good!!!
