I am more than happy for non-Charlton threads to be started on our board BUT this has to be in moderation, one person starting two or three such threads a day is NOT acceptable. There is a 'General Chat' board at the top of this site so if you want numerous non-Charlton discussions please go there, also, please do NOT link any 'general chat board' threads to the Charlton page as this would defeat the object of General Chat Board. I will warn you now, that the 'General Chat' area is a bit of a snake pit and is lightly moderated so go at your own risk! Hope this helps, AllHell
The voice of reason as always...!! I am in total agreement AllHell. A light sprinkling of non Charlton related subject matter is good comedy, but is there really any need for: Just seen the malory film on bbc 2 I player very good Fernandes set to buy QPR For the love of god...!!
The problem is Franco that if everybody wrote 2 non-Charlton threads a day then there would be no room for Charlton ones! Plus if one person writes two such threads a day then, other people who have just as much right, will feel that they shouldn't write the occasional general thread.
No harm in limiting any of us on non-Charlton threads on the Charlton page. All Hell, can I suggest a limit of one non Charlton thread per week per person and if this is abused then you delete them. This is not Facebook where the gormless can post mindless drivel for their "friends" but a focused thread aim at reasonable (please note I did not limit it any other way) comment on the activities of CAFC both on and off the field of play. You rightly point out that there exists a general chat page. It might be worth asking the supermoderator if you can reassign non-Charlton threads to the general chat page at your choice as moderator. The shark pit that exists on page would soon expose wanton postings.
SVC I wouldn't like to see this implemented as while I am in general agreement some weeks a poster may have 2 or 3 highly interesting threads not strictly Charlton related while I'd rather see us mainly stick to Charlton I think mod's discretion is a better route.
As AllHell points out, there is a general chat thread that can be used. If the moderator also believes it is a justified second thread then he doesn't have to delete it. However, there are those who appear to suffer from both mindless drivel and verbal incontinence as well as priapic posting. They need treatment.
Completely agree that at the moment nearly all non Charlton related threads are mindless drivel but lets be frank about this we're really talking about a particular posters ones as unless I've missed something I haven't noticed much/any from others.
This is the original reason myself and a couple of others had enough of it, the problem is still here because of an unnecessary cry for 'fair play' to all ! Hasn't it been obvious from the start that this poster is taking the piss out of all of us and is clearly not genuine ? Be done with it, no need to fluff around - Off with his head !
Is this a Charlton-related or non-Charlton related thread?... Seriously, though, a very good idea. 1 non-Charlton thread per person per week. Full stop. Please. If it's really that interesting, someone else will post the thread.
Cult of Personality 1 non Charlton thread per week? What about if I meet Gemma Arterton on Monday, took her for a drink on Tuesday, we were making love by Wednesday and again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, before we chilled on Sunday. That surely merits 7 different posts per week?
