I think we'll get a wall of silence from him. Also, I reckon we'll get some top performances.

 

I can always tell when Merson is talking ****, cos his lips are moving...or I can hear him. I use a version of the same mental editing that I use on my wife where I pick out key words and make up my own sentence so that I like what I'm hearing.

 

I doubt he will release a statement personally. Though i expect Pellegrino will say something like he has accepted his future, at least for now, is here and decided to play and we are happy to have his ability in the squad. If he does say something it will be about him being a professional and never refusing to play.

Either way if he wants to keep big clubs interested he will need to play. personally at this point i cant see us backing down.

His value will only start going down when the big clubs lose interest, and there's no way we will let him go when silly money isn't being offered. we have 5 years. at some point he will realise if he wants to move to a big club he has to start playing and we will get at least another year out of him and then still get the money, maybe even more if the market continues the way it has. This board doesn't just think short term.

The board holds all the cards here. They can do what they think is best. No reason to sell if they don't want the money now to reinvest. I think he'll start playing sooner rather than later as it is in everyone's best interests for him to do so.

 

Seriously, what other option does he have but reconciliation?, he went all out for a move which never materialised and now has to play to keep clubs interested in him. He's not stupid enough to commit career suicide IMO.

 

I think this has been a strange summer with clubs like PSG injecting ridiculous money into the market. May be more sensible soon and some teams will have got burnt.

Martin Samuel tore into Les Reed early in the transfer window for saying one thing and meaning another and criticised the club as well for letting the fans down. I expect that he will shortly publish a piece praising Les for staying firm in the face of provocation.

You know, we all have a moan and a dig from time to time, but I'd say most saints are very proud at the way the club conducts itself.
Arsenal have 17 players out of contract in two years (8oy + 9ty), out of a squad of 25. Arsene didn't think he was getting a new deal did he.......

I personally like the way they've resorted to the "mummy they're calling us nasty names" ploy, coming over all sensitive, while suffering amnesia about the ridicule, swearwords, factual distortions and general insults directed at Saints and their fans over the last few weeks.

 

And their Wums were camped on our board for weeks during the Summer...

ESPN feel that VVD must knuckle down and win the fans back, but warns him that it will be easier to win back the team as fans will be scrutinising him for the slightest error.

 

Not in the "he will go camp" as it really did not affect me, as I don't support Liverpool. However, I was surprised he didn't (along with a number of other players from different clubs) and maybe the balance of power is starting to swing back towards the clubs.
