It's an insult, doing it to the away fans is likely to get you a yellow card, doing it to the home fans is just odd.
Wow, didn't realise that. I don't think I've seen anyone given a yellow for that? Did Campbell get a yellow for his celebration against us? I genuinely just thought that sort of thing was to rev up the fans.
Referee instruction re goal celebrations - A player must be booked if he climbs on to a perimeter fence to celebrate a goal, removes his shirt over his head or covers his head with his shirt. Referees must also show the yellow card for gestures they consider provocative, derisory or inflammatory. This could extend to a player cupping his ear with his hand or even celebrating a goal in front of the opposing supporters. It doesn't happen all that often, but Chadli got booked for doing this in a Spurs v Arsenal game... please log in to view this image
Turbo is used to playing in front of hostile supporters! For & against and I just took it as " let's f'king hear ya " when he cupped his ear! He was obviously also letting us know who he was after maybe reading some of the negativeness about him!
Lifting arms up and down does that more obviously, without any other connotations that hand to ear might have.
I've never seen that qualification in the description of incendiary gestures. Encouraging fans to cheer louder is an odd bookable offense. Different cultures I guess.
Cupping your ear is done when you've been getting stick and then you silence the crowd, i.e. fans giving him stick for not putting in the effort and tweeting about leaving, but then being quiet when he's performing. I think he's an arrogant prick personally, and won't be fond of him no matter how well he performs, but I still hope that he does well for the team obviously.
My personal opinion on Grosicki.... he’s either a bit thick or it’s a translation problem - either way he’s welcome to stay providing if he keeps up the form he showed against Bolton otherwise he can **** off!
To think Musa made his decision to stay with Leicester on the last day of the transfer window takes some believing. I think both clubs are scrambling for excuses. Can someone contact Neil Warnock and ask him if he believes this dodgy outcome - he has this lot sussed for sure.
The Polish press are still determined to see him move somewhere, they reckon Real Betis are in for him (the window in Spain closes at midnight), even if it's true, it's not going to happen now.
whilst i would hate to interrupt the pages upon pages of petty squabbling over Grosicki and people handing in transfer requests and alike....would it be too much to hang on to a faint hope that we could bring in a FAT, someone like Tosic who'd add depth at winger? fair enough we've not been linked with in any shape or form outside of some peeps on message boards offering him up as an option, but there is always hope while they remain unattached
