I think he'll stick it out until January. We'll be doing OK, then injuries to Gayle/Perez will mean that we're unable to score enough goals and get dragged into the relegation zone. He'll look to reinforce in January, get knocked back again, and walk. And I won't blame him for one.
I think his working relationship with the club will become untenable as he speaks out about the way the club is run in the press
Also, it seems likely that Arsenal will finally be looking for a new manager this season. Rafa's CV is certainly good enough, even if it probably hasn't been enhanced by his time suffering under Ashley.
He's been no more hard done than any other manager during Ashley's time. If he has anything about him, he should knuckle down, get on with the job he's being well paid for and not look for excuses.
Form what I have seen on twitter today I think that laughing face is now officially part of Arsenal's name!
No he was told there would be good money to spend he even lowered his standard of player and yet he was let down.... He was lied to basically.
He will be gone tomorrow To be honest I've been checking the news because I expected an instant resignation. Apparently we have to wait for west ham to close in instead
This for me. Nobody can say they've been lied to or misled. Ashley has been very consistent in his approach to spending bar one or two windows. He knew what he was getting into, and he said himself if no one else arrived he'd simply get his head down, work with what he has and coach. Time to stay true to his word. He has 2 choices 1. Go back on his word, do a Keegan and jump ship 2. Honour his word a la Pardew and knuckle down. Hopefully he'll choose option 2 but it isn't the end of the world if he doesn't. His work here so far has been fairly average. We have to remember also no player arrives here without his say so. So the players bought for 38m or whatever it is, its his spend. Pardew wasn't even getting a say in his transfers, and McClaren was only part of a committee. I realise 38m is peanuts now, but I can think of quite a few clubs who have spent wiser than us. He'll just have to earn his corn.
Unless of course they were lied to and mislead Rafa will stay until he gets a better offer it's simple He will have an eye on the arsenal situation for sure
Surely Rafa can? He was promised to be able to spend what we make in profits, and we've the major profit we made in transfers last summer, plus the parachute payments, I doubt he's spent anything like the profits we've made. On top of that he's asked for transfers to be made, such as Abraham and Townsend in January, and the negotiations have been a complete farce and he's missed out on what he thought were practically done deals. It's not as clear cut as Keegan in 08, and he would struggle to win a constructive dismissal case if he quit now, but he's clearly been mislead, promises have been broken, and it's not the job he signed up for. He's a strong character and won't tolerate this, with potential vacancies at Arsenal, West Ham and Palace, he won't struggle to get an offer from a Prem club this season, and he'll be off the moment he gets one.
Think he will be here until January at least, unless a club comes in for him he won't be quitting as apparently he'd have to pay £5m to get out of his contract. Arsenal and West Ham may well be in for him shortly though ....
