Amazon never crashes, google never crashes. Web hosting has come along way. The problem is traffic and a good system. The hardware infrastructure side would not be a problem

Google never crashes or stops working? I want your Google Stephen....:emoticon-0148-yes:

Google is a web browser, and from what I can gather, different countries have their own versions of Google, so I'm presuming they have their own big servers.....each. Google only has approx 41% of the market usage.

I was on about the traffic and the need for a good system, without it Muhkia will have problems. Can you imagine how many people around the world will be using his site on a daily basis in the name of football, and to see how much money they can make.

Likes of Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook etc all had their big problems to begin with, and over time, they now have the power, so to speak, to keep their respective websites and browsers running, but they still have problems from time to time.

Most know these days, that regular high volumes of traffic can crash or make websites slow, and like you pointed out in your comments, traffic is a big problem.

Websites cannot judge or calculate what amount of traffic they're going to receive, especially at the beginning, be it uploading, or downloading.......:emoticon-0148-yes:

Glad to help, if it does help.

Anyone can set up their own servers and databases on the web, for what you're proposing you may want to look into having a partner or partners with some cash to spare.

If you use others webhosting, like Ristac said, you'll have limited bandwidth usage or, get some high bills for excessive usage. Many limit the size of videos and pics you can upload to their sites, don't forget they'll have quite a few thousand, or more, others using their web hosting facilities with their own websites as well, which is why you'll be limited on usage and uploads..

Great idea, hope it works for you, think about maybe using links to begin with, then grow slowly......football will still be around in 5,10, 20 years time.....:emoticon-0148-yes:

You're actually about 10 years out with that assessment. We've had the advent of 'on demand' hosting, where you simply pay for what you use, and it copes with most usage situations.

Systems rarely unavoidably crash due to capacity issues these days. Quite apart from the on-demand facility, you would expect server load to be spread in a cluster to offer more resilience. You would also be sensible to carry out a CFIA (Component Failure Impact Analysis) to not only do what it says on the tin, but to enable you to identify & mitigate single points of failure. Classic example used to be to set up a second power supply on a server to mitigate power failure, but it's now standard on a server due to overwhelming customer demand.

Having shared this with you, I am now stepping back into retirement mode before people ITK laugh at my knowledge level. A lot can change in 4 years - particularly in IT. Honest Guv! :D
