We really need to work on our reveal videos for next summer. Or did we peak too early with the GKN one last year?
Players Bought 1) Paulo Gazzaniga £3m 2) Davison Sanchez £28m plus £14m add ons 3) Juan Foyth £9m 4) Serge Aurier £23m 5) Fernando Llorente £12m MP true to his word he said 4 or 5 Is everybody happy?
I make us short by one Ross Barkley. The January Sales should see that sorted. Other than that, pretty happy.
More money brought in than spent? I would of liked to have seen a centre midfielder come in but I can understand why it didn't happen. I just wish the club didn't leave things so late though.
Yup! Would've been a tad nicer if we could've got the Andre Gomes deal over the line but I think we've done excellent business. In Sanchez we have one of the best young CBs on the planet, if not the best for his age. Foyth comes highly recommended and is seen as another star at CB. We sold one of the best RBs in Europe and replaced him with another... For half the price We now easily have one of the best back up strikers in the Prem with Llorente. And Gazza... Well he's just a good looking bastard, isn't he? Insurance for if we sold Vorm and baring in mind Vorm's age, Gazza may well become Hugo's main back up over the next 6-12 months. A solid 8/10 from me. Very happy. Well done Daniel and Mauricio
Very happy with Sanchez, Aurier and Foyth Happy with Llorente given the role he'll likely be used for Irked at the amount of arsing about that, at the very least, cost us Pau Lopez Miffed at our not addressing depth in central midfield that lumbers us with Sissoko for another season
Good wide players which we need, a proven goal scorer in the premier league, and a highly rated centrsl defender 3 of them under 24 and very athletic. Janssen to Brighton could be good for us in the long term too. So imo it's been a good window although it's a shame we couldn't get some in earlier but it's not always possible I guess. When you consider Chelsea wanted Llorente and Barklay walked out of his medical and consider the farce that is Arsenal it has been agood and highly entertaining window
Slightly disappointed overall but it's only a transfer window. Pleased we've got better backup than Janssen, pleased we've got a replacement for Walker, pleased we've got potentially another great centreback. Still feel like we were a player short in attack unless Nkoudou or Sissoko step up. Also disappointed it took us so long which is understandable but still annoying and a negative. We'll see how it all shakes out though. There's always a few flops, hopefully they all went to the Manchester clubs though. Are transfers really that important to us though? Son really stepped up last season and pretty much every player improved. The season before that, Alli surprised us all. Season before that Kane, Bentaleb, Mason and others came a bit out of nowhere, whilst Dembele, Rose and Walker really improved. Season before that we were all excited about our brilliant transfer window and we know that turned out. How many players have come in and immediately made a big difference to us? Wanyama, Alderweired, Alli and... ermm... now I'm struggling. Basically coaching, patience and our youth system have been more effective for us than the transfer windows. Signings are important but still massively overrated by fans.
Technically we're not done yet: any club who completed a deal sheet has two hours grace, so Janssen's loan to Brighton may still happen. Other than that...Gomes, Barkley and Meyer in January then?
I feel theses are just bonus signings because we already had a terrific squad, with the exception of replacing the pace of Walker the rest is about depth. We must now be stronger than ever with the potential of Lamela, GKN, Winks, Janssen and even Sissoko to use as well.
Im pretty happy to be honest, if i had to grade our business in the window i would say 7.5/10, As ive mentioned im really excited by Davinson Sanchez and think he will be a huge upgrade on Wimmer. Gazzanigga for Lopez - Lopez never played a gamefor us and Gazzanigga probably wont until Vorm eventually moves on. Foyth replacing CCV, Foyth is highly rated but so was CCV. Have to trust Poch on this one. Aurier for Walker. Perfect replacement for Kyle. Like for like pace and power. Superb replacement. Llorente for Janssen (if he goes) - Wont be difficult to surpass Janssen's goal tally from last season. Llorente is a fine player who brings huge experience to our young squad. The major downside is that we didnt sign an attacking midfielder to compete with and cover Eriksen, Dele and Son. As we all know Dele misses three games of the champions league through injury so we will have to pray Eriksen and Son stay fit. We have Sissoko and N'Koudou in reserve but we cant really pin our hopes on them. If we presume Sanchez joins Toby and Jan in a back three, Aurier and Rose wingbacks, Wanyama and Dembele CM and Eriksen and Dele supporting Kane then our our bench would probably be - Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Dier, Winks, Son and Llorente with Foyth, KWP, Sissoko and N'Koudou in reserve. (I havent included Lamela because we just dont know when he will return to fitness after such a huge injury layoff).
Good signings, especially today. My only reservation if I was a Spurs fan is that when you look at the outgoing players (including Janssen, assuming he joins Brighton), the squad depth hasn't been increased. Nor is there anything different. Aurier is a similarly powerful player like Walker. Llorente is a similar type reserve for Kane, albeit an improvement on Janssen. Sanchez is likely to be an upgrade on Wimmer, but strengthens the back up in an area where you were already strong. 8/10'for quality of players signed. 4/10 for improvement of the squad at the manager's disposal.
Anyone else already watched the Spurs TV interview with Llorente? Interviewer asks him what he thinks of Kane and if he's looking forward to potentially playing with him. Llorente responds by saying that he's 32 but still wants to learn, from Harry, the players and also Pochettino and then later mentions he wants to fight to help the team win titles. I ****ing love that. Here's a guy who's won the Serie A multiple times with Juve, the Europa League with Sevilla, the World Cup and European Championship with Spain and has scored goals wherever he's been yet says he's still willing to learn from a 24 year old and surrounding players in which most have nothing compared to his CV. Liking him already, welcome aboard, Fernando!
