It was actually Gateshead Thunder trading as Hull FC, the Gateshead franchise was switched to Hull when the Hull FC company was wound up.

There is a maximum and minimum allowed. Scarborough had the second largest in total area after, I think, Doncaster Rovers in the Football League, though it didn't look particulary big to me. The largest one used to be in Scotland. Now there are FIFA regulations for a playing surface size allowing for a more or less standard pitch size and virtually all new stadiums are laid out to that size. Arsenal, Man City and ourselves had wildly varying pitch sizes in the old stadiums now they are virtually the same size. FIFA regulation size is 105 x 68mtrs. The KC was that size, as are the Emirates, The Etihad and others. Wembley is the sane length as the KC for football and rugby and 1 mtr wider, at least for internationals, they may take it in a metre for finals.
The Nou Camp, another place where pundits go on about Barcelona taking advantage of the large pitch, and other teams being tired covering it, is the same dimensions as the KC, Emirates and a host of other league clubs. Though admittedly it does look larger on TV, no doubt due to camera angles.
Tottenham were refused permission to change the dimensions of the Wembley pitch to Tottenham's size which was only 100 metres long and 67mtrs wide.
Looking at pitch sizes, they don't seem to have affected playing styles a great deal. Going back the years sone of the teams renowned for playing wide, expansive football with wingers played on narrower pitches than others.

My old man is sat watching FC on telly right now whilst I'm on the laptop, and bloody hell, I know people like to accuse FC fans of moaning about decisions, but they are getting really ****ing shafted right now aainst Leeds by the referee.
