I know Mason made it late with us but Miller at 21 was so far down the pecking order he'd have had a better chance playing Oliver Twist again than getting in our first team. Good luck to him though, was at Burton last season on loan so knows the club well.

I wouldn't blame the club if Gomes falls through. Most reports suggest that Barca only woke up to the fact that they were happy to sell him as late as Monday, and a very reliable source of mine tells me that we only opened talks on Tuesday afternoon. Not at all like the farces we saw with Moutinho or Berahino where, after 2 months of supposed negotiations, we were left with nothing to show for it.

 

In other news, our U23 side just beat West Ham 7-2, despite the latter being awarded four (yes, four) penalties - Whiteman saved two of them.

According to Sky sources, Ross Barkley's move to Chelsea for around £30m was all on the table; the midfielder travelled to London and began his medical, but during the medical changed his mind!

He is expected to return to Everton. Wow!

EDIT: I am delighted to hear this. £30m - even in today's market - is a ludicrous fee for a player who essentially has 5 months left on his contract. Wouldn't surprise me if we return in the winter and that the fee is closer to £15-20m.
