Putting my finance head on it looks like the cost of relegation was a bit higher than we thought. Seems like Mikey boy is trying to balance the books.

I reckon that fat Mike is fattening the goose to take it to market.

That goose would be a lot fatter if it was still in the Premier League though!

You need to stop with this wishful thinking lark.
It may be of comfort in the short term, but when reality bites, you will regret fooling yourself this way.

We won't know about the finances until around about March time when accounts have to be filed.

Stand by for the 'there's no value in the January market' excuses on 1st February.

It's all bullshit. Any business needs to invest and if we had two seasons ago we would have players to sell....

Ashley is ****ting this and playing a proper gamble, one I hope he is right but expect is a fail.

We have to invest and we have to speculate that is what bottom feeders have to do. He has laid his cards and I for one am sick of this so I am out.

Just to add a bit of sanity to the mix, Mbemba has been decent at left back so far, and Gayle could easily turn out fine at this level once back up to fitness. He's been out of the side at least partly because we were trying to move him on and didn't want him injured. It would have been great to get in some new faces in attack, but we've done well to strengthen our defence and Merino will keep midfield ticking. Keep the faith and don't destroy what confidence our players have left by getting on their backs.

If Benitez stays no, that amazing.man will make us boring to watch, but will get us points. Any.fan expecting better at the moment would be deluded!

It's not as suicidal as some people are making out as we have competed well in all 3 games so far and easily won one of them so I'm sure we will put up a good fight, but it can't be described as anything other than disappointing that we haven't got at least another couple of players in and nobody really of any proven quality. I'd say we are stronger than at the start of the window, but not by much. Credit is due for cutting out some of the deadwood I suppose. Let's just hope there were genuine reasons for not getting in that Argy lad, the keeper, and an attacking midfielder, not to mention Kenedy, and that Rafa hasn't been pissed off too much by what looks from the outside as serial incompetence by the dealmakers.
