Spurs offer £30m for Lemar, are told to bugger off Spurs offer £40m for Lemar, are told to bugger off Liverpool offer £50m for Lemar, are told to bugger off Liverpool offer £60m for Lemar, are told to bugger off Am I the only person who sees a pattern there? We'd likely need to pay a premium on top to avoid their usual buyback shenanigans.
Where does Andre Gomes fit into our team? Doesn't he play in the same sort of role as Dembele, Dier, Wanyama and Winks?
That's another one to cross off It says a lot that they were expecting a reported £7m+ compensation from us, yet accepted just £170k from Dortmund.
He certainly plays a lot like the Dembele understudy I've been banging on about for the past year. There is one thing I'm not so happy about, though: signing him would mean the cancer that is Jorge Mendes will be at our club.
Dont think you've been insensitive for what its worth. Its a good point...I need to think about it before agreeing/disagreeing
Are you saying Dortmund are the new <Standard> Liege ?? IMHO this just shows the fear Citeh had that a rival could develop the kid much further, so try to put a price penalty on him (surprised Spurs did not at least try the tribunal route - perhaps not enough time) .
I would much prefer a permanent deal rather than a loan as long as there isn't some buy back clause in the deal. Dembele isn't getting any younger. We don't know how long Dier will be here given how much it seems he has had his head turned by Man U. Winks is still learning. So if we can get a player of that quality for around £35 million then it will be an absolute bargain especially in this transfer window.
On homophobic language: Using terms like ***got or **** directed at homosexual people is hate speech pure and simple. Using it towards a hetrosexual as a derogatory term normalises its negative conotations, and equates being gay or lesbian with negative mental imagary. However, I agree with CK in that it does display incredible immaturity on the part of our new right back, though hopefully this is a lesson he's already learned and moved on from. Its jarring that while Aurier's history has rightfully played a central role in this transfer saga, there's a certain player lining up for Aston Villa who's past misdemenours were very quickly swept under the carpet and 'forgotten about'.
So what is left to do ?? Formalities on Draxler. Dier Hard in the WHL wicker man. I call that a good summer transfer campaign.
5pm(ish) roundup * Jose Fonte has been trying to convince fellow Portugeezer Andre Gomes joins him at West Scam (FootballDotLondon) * We've been offered Nicolas Gaitan for £18m (widely-respected and impeccably sourced font of all knowledge, the Daily Mail transfer blog) * We're still being linked to Dennis Suarez for no apparent reason (CalcioMercato)
I'd stake a few quid on us still going in for Barkley. Real, real, real late. Low, low, low offer. Why not?
I wouldn't be surprised either. So if Gomes comes off, would everyone be happy? ( let's forget Barkley for now)
He's a quality footballer. He'd be a talented squad member and our DoF may not need to Google him. It's all good!
Will be happy as it stands if we get Lorente as a striker is vital. Gomes would be a big bonus. Really pleased we did not get Barkley (over rated imho and injured) and pleasedthat our DoF has not been sold. Hopefully he'll face a struggle to get back into the team and will miss out on next years world cup. #vengefuloldgit
Yup! Very stylish midfielder, never predicted him to be a target to be honest, didn't have the greatest of seasons at Barca but there's a reason they paid £30m+ add-ons for him and if we can nab him (has to be a perm for me, no loan deal) for a similar price then that's Dembele's long term successor sorted. If Llorente and Gomes go through, Levy's played an absolute ****ing blinder.
I'll reserve judgement until Pochettino does his work on him. Looks a player, but as much as there's a reason Barcelona bought him, there's a reason they are seeking to loan him out or getting rid. Seems like he could use a new start, in a new team. Could be a gem, or just a lump of coal. I live in hope, and I trust the powers that be at the club. It can't be worse than having an injured guy who can't play until December anyway.
