    Rejoice! Inspiring!

She went all the way to Japan to announce it too! Covers up the news from that visit that the Japanese don't want even want to talk about the possibility of a trade deal yet, her suggestion that the UK can simply join in the EU trade deals with other countries in future (take back control!), the instant unravelling of her promises to 'deal with' executive pay, her scolding of North Korea and China being completely ignored in line with her level of power and influence, and the international mockery of her pick for Foreign Secretary. Stand by for the energy price cap, which was promised for 17m households, actually only covering 2 million.

There's not much more sad and pathetic than a zombie which doesn't realise it's a zombie. Her party can't administer the last rites because the alternatives are equally pathetic.

Just read that our new signing, David Wheeler, had a blog in a Devon newspaper in which he railed against Brexit, Trump and austerity and backed a left-wing alliance at the GE. And they call him a right-winger! I like him already.

Remember that news item about the 5-year old being fostered in Tower Hamlets earlier this week?

A court has ordered that she should go to live with her grandmother in East London. Social Services in Tower Hamlets say that the family they put her with "temporarily" were English speakers. You can make rules telling fosterers they must speak English in front of their English-speaking foster child, but I can't see how you can stop them from speaking Arabic at home if that's what they want to do. Not very helpful to the child, obviously.

The Times and the Daily Mail have been reported to IPSO for their reporting of this.

The Daily Mail (and Mail Online) used a stock photo to accompany their piece. (Why, if it wasn't of the actual child and her fosterer?) It came from Getty Images and was of a Muslim woman and child in a park in Dubai. In the original photo that Getty supplied, the woman had nothing covering her face. By the time the Mail used it, they had Photoshopped a veil onto her face.

But they're not promoting hate or trying to encourage people to hold certain opinions. Oh, no. You'd be a communist if you thought that...

The Times isn't giving up. The child is now expected to go to her grandparents, who plan to take her abroad. Her grandmother required translation help and the grandparents are not 'Christian'.

So the tactics of the bloated and overpaid EU bureaucratic negotiators are to tell the UK that it must state how much it is prepared to pay, without the UK knowing for what, whether a purported legal obligation or in relation to any subsequent trade agreement. It's like going to a garage and being required to contract to pay an amount, before being told what, if any, motor you are buying. And when the UK ask to discuss this, the bureaucrats say they don't have authority to discuss anything.

****ing ingenious negotiating tactics by the Commission. Merkel and Macron need to step in and side-line these worthless jobsworths.

Aren't you doing just what you're accusing the Mail and The Times of doing - prejudging? If there's an IPSO enquiry, let's wait for their report

I'm not prejudging the IPSO investigation. They should respond and decide if there's a case to answer or not. Of course, like all these things, the report will come out far too late to undo any damage done (if there was any) or to vindicate their actions (if there is any).

I am definitely judging the Daily Mail for faking a photograph of a woman to give her a veil that wasn't in the photo and wasn't even related to the story. All I can surmise is they want to provoke an emotional response in certain people and are prepared to do whatever is required to get it. That's already a fact as Getty have explained what the original photo looked like in their files. Shameful.

Readers would have to be immensely naive to believe it was an actual photo of the child and Muslim foster parent, given the protection the law affords to minors. If the actual foster mother did indeed wear a veil outside, then I cannot see the issue. Photos are edited and retouched everywhere, all the time.

have to disagree goldie. the news never just post up fake photos of the people they are describing and deliberately photoshop it.

Even if i think the council are incorrect, the daily mail are a trashy newspaper

What newspapers can't do is publish a made up photo and claim it is real. In this case, the Mail put a footnote - "photo posed by models" which is perfectly proper. So long as they did not contravene copyright on the original photo, they've done nothing wrong imo. You may not like the Mail, Bobby, but don't let your prejudices cloud your judgement here! :emoticon-0100-smile

I'd say i'm more centre right but why even bother with a picture like that if its not the actual people? I don't know if its just for point scoring but it just screams out propaganda.

If this was the BBC or the guardian i would be saying the same thing.
