Talk of Newcastle wanting Targett on loan. Don't know what I feel about that....I rate Matty, but feel he has been put back by his injury....being an important player before that happened. Perhaps he does need a loan and game time. We have given him a longer contract, but we did with Gallagher before he went on loan. Seems to be a new direction for the club as a few years ago we weren't in favour of loans at all....I suppose we have more players to keep happy now. Targett is probably seen as one we want to keep for his potential, but we can't afford to give him the game time he needs. That's what happens when you become a big club.

 

I'd be for that ... give him a years experience in the PL (he's behind Mcqueen & Bertrand here), then have him/McQueen next season as Bertrand goes with Targett better off.

I agree in principle, but if he's going on loan, I'd prefer it not to be a PL club, personally. He'd learn just as much starting regularly in the Championship, or even somewhere like the Eredivisie (why does this never happen?), and he wouldn't be helping out one of our rivals.

 

Not sure I'd consider Newcastle as one of our rivals - if it was a West Brom or a Leicester I'd agree, but Newcastle? No, I think it'd be a good move for him, personally.

 

As with all loans, only worth it if he'd be a regular starter

I see every team in the PL as our rivals. Man Utd, Liverpool, Huddersfield, Newcastle; we all started the season on 0 points, and we all have to play each other twice.

 

Apparently Arsenal are looking to offload Lucas Perez. Think that could be an astute signing for us. Would also look at Fabian Delph if I were big Les. Reckon he could add a lot to our midfield. Like a better Davis that can shoot
