Here's an out of left-field one for deadline day: Andre Gomes from Barca. They have made him available to be loaned for the season and we, together with West Ham, are supposedly very interested. Quality player who IIRC had the best pass completion rate in the CL last year. He was signed to be 'the next Xavi', but a combination of Messi-worship and Jose Enrique setting up tactically to essentially bypass the midfield has meant that his development has stalled somewhat. This really is an out of nowhere one so I can't see why so many reliable sources would be making it up. Although Poch clearly isn't a fan of loaning players in, this move still ticks a lot of boxes as we do need to strengthen in CM and Harry Winks could gain enormously from playing and training alongside a player of Gomes' caliber (despite being 24 years old, he is a seasoned international (dg) and has won multiple major trophies, including the Euros with Portugal last year. I doubt this will happen but it is rapidly gaining traction. If it does happen, you heard it here first
Less than 24 hours to go and it's panning out to be the busiest TDD ever. Other than United, every PL club is looking likely to be doing so e sort of business and some major continental power houses look like they're holding a clear-out. Nice not to be the only ones looking for a date on Prom Night. Let's hope we get lucky!
Except I actually heard it here first: https://www.barcablaugranes.com/fc-...6228756/spurs-west-ham-battle-for-andre-gomes
He's been charged with assaulting a copper. Interesting that he's been granted a work permit in spite of this, I guess money talks. He was also suspended by PSG for calling team mates '***gots'... He sounds like a nutter off the field. Hopefully, Poch knows what he's doing.
Llorente is a real random link, I rate him as a player but I purely just want him now to stick the middle finger up at Chelsea. What a striker to compete with Harry though! (Albeit I'd have preferred a more pacey option). Barkley, Mahrez and Andre Gomes the other names being banded about. Levy has been at Hotspur Way since 07:30, something that he rarely does on deadline day. GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRN DANIEL!
Buying Llorente and loaning Janssen to Swansea might work well. Janssen needs to play and he won't get much game time with us.
This is why I'm not a fan of this 'only two more coming in' talk. The way I see it we need at least three more signings, and it's the three we needed before we sold Walker and acquired defensive reinforcements. CM - This guy Gomes or similar to challenge / cover CM for Dembele. Winks still seems like a work in progress, Dembele seems like he edging past his best. An in-between would be nice. Preferably one who is a goal threat. STR - Llorente or similar to challenge / cover mentor Kane (and Janssen if he stays). I think we need three out and out strikers competing. LW/RW - Lemar or similar as the pacy winger we've wanted but not had since Lennon and clearly still need as we've been looking for an improvement on him in all the wrong places ever since. I would have Mahrez, but only if Lemar is not available. I reckon he is. Too much smoke without fire. I see him going last minute for schtupid money. Those three would still leave us without competition for Eriksen as the main playmaker. Although a Lemar, Dele and Son behind Kane would do. I'm glad that Levy and co. are not blind to these areas though, if these rumours are true of course. I for one would be mad if Lemar came to a rival in our league instead of us, especially since we were one of the first in for him (and since he made us look very ordinary in the CL). Let's hope that Levy has an absolute blinder of a day and that at the end of it, everyone Spurs is happy, including Danny the DOF. Get it done Levy. In Levy I trust.
For those who are interested. In depth scouting report on Foyth. Enlightening stuff. https://www.esdfanalysis.com/player-analysis/juan-foyth/
Gomes/ Barkley would add to the CM options. Llorente strengthens ST. I don't think we really need three first team strikers competing for one spot in the XI so I'd personally sell/ loan Janssen. It doesn't make much financial sense for the club to be paying a guy who may only feature off the bench in domestic cups - that position should be reserved for a youth player like Sterling or Harrison to give them chances (they probably won't be any worse than Janssen either! Lol). If that's all that gets done (along with Aurier), I'd be well happy. IF we bring in an attacking midfielder then fair play but I personally don't believe we need to do so. Alli, Eriksen and Son are amongst the best in the Prem, Lamela when back fit will add a great option and we have GK and Sissoko in reserve (Sissoko hasn't looked entirely terrible in the first couple of games while I think GK deserves another season). We actually have more attacking mids at our club than most of the league, probably most of Europe in fact. Realistically Lemar ain't joining mate, there's too much interest in him and he'd want wages that'd smash Kane's/ Hugo's out the water. Mahrez is also similar, chances are Chelsea/ Arsenal/ Utd want him. Arsenal may potentially be in desperation mode if they lose Oxocube AND Sanchez, so they will look to blow away all competition and offer him a massive package to join them. I'd say we have a better chance of getting him though than we would Lemar. We play an exciting brand of football which he'd like and are building for the future not just on but also off the pitch.
Hearing rumours of a helicopter landing at the training ground with some big time player in it Edit: apologies, it's only Hiag pissing about on his way to work
I agree with you for the most part, but have a look at Liverpool's squad in the AM and winger department, and they are still trying for Lemar. Not confident he will come to us, or anyone, but I'd like us to be in the runnings if he moves. Especially to the Premier League, that's all. I do believe Mahrez is more likely. Not sure he'd choose Arsenal right now over us regardless of how desperate they are. Wenger has done a great job of souring the milk. However, I'm also not sure he's as much of what we need as Lemar is.
If we're in for Llorente and Barkley/Gomes or players of that quality then Vinnie's not going to be the only departure. With Aurier that's some heavy wages and as our DoF would tell us, letting Kyle Walker and Kevin Wimmer go isn't going to balance the books. If we get another midfielder, Sissoko's a goner for my money, even if it's only on loan.
