SSN now reporting that Aurier is imminent. Saying that there was late but concrete interest from Jose and his band of merry twats, but that the player is excited to play for Poch and excited to be a part of Levy's long-term project. Like I said this morning, in terms of the bigger picture our chairman remains probably the best in the entire league, and players can see that. Even ex-players who had run-ins with him and/or contract disputes have gone on to say that everything is done politely and with a smile. As Levy is Jewish, I believe the yiddish term 'he's a proper mentsch' is appropriate. But let's make no mistake; signing Aurier brings us roughly back to the level we were on last season, unlocking the 3-4-2-1 formation once again. We are stronger defensively thanks to Sanchez, but going forward remains a lingering problem - and one that a certain Mr Barkley ISN'T the solution to.
Someone might be able to Bale us out in the next 24 hours mate so I think we should just all reDrax(ler) and keep calm. It's not all Gray skies. Meyer I just add, "In Levy I Trust". **** I'm good.
woah woah woah you bunch of Happy Clappers!!! Don't get carried away. Aurier has used the fire emoji. we all know that fire can be associated with Hell. And united are the red devils. This could easily take another spursy twist!!! STOP BEING POSITIVE! IT'LL BE THE DEATH OF YOU!!!
I agree. Aurier is a great example of the type of signing we should be making. Young, CL experience and from a top club. I know these sorts of deals are hard to find, but they are clearly possible, and we should be going all out to find a player like this who plays in an attacking role, before settling for Demarai Gray. It just goes to show that there are players out there. (Should be trying for Mahrez first, at least!!)
The significant problem with someone like Mahrez are his wages. Leicester chuck money around like confetti. He'd be top wage earner at the club and that's a no-no. Finding quality defensive talent within our wage structure is possible. Finding someone who can stick the ball in the net regularly or create significant numbers of chances who will take less than £100k pw is our problem. I've given up on the ridiculous size of the transfer fee. It's meaningless. Vinnie's been a failure but we'd get our money back. Same with GKN. For us, it's the wages and the potential. I'd not be unhappy if we took a punt on Gray, as opposed to sticking with what we've got. Ideally, we're waiting to announce Max Meyer.
I would personally prefer Gray over Mahrez. Wages and fee will be far less. Also let's not forget that when he was Gray's age, Mahrez was utterly irrelevant as a footballer. In fact, he only became relevant when he was 3 years older than Gray. My point is that Gray is home grown, has years ahead of him to develop and seems to have a bit more about him physically than most pacy attackers of his age - a height and strength that Poch favours in his players. I worry about Mahrez' work rate and attitude when the game isn't going his way. Whenever I imagine him moving, it is invariably to Arsenal and it's for these reasons that I see him fitting in there so well. All style no substance. He thrived at Leicester with Kante and Drinkwater doing the donkey work for him, but Poch demands more from every single player on the pitch.
Some 'Clickbait' suggestion that PSG offered us Lucas Moura and we asked about Angel Di Maria. How are we going to pay his wages, prey?
So...my daughter's hairdresser goes to a nail salon where they were having some building work done. There builder has a mate who is a plumber and his best man at his wedding to his second wife is married to a dog groomer. She has a child from her third marriage who has had a break down and is seeing a psychiatrist in Pembrokeshire. The psychiatrist's secretary has an aunt whose neighbour is a fan of of female mud wrestling. He buys his mud wrestling "sports" magazine from a local corner shop which gets their milk delivered from a local farmer who has a son who works as paper clip sales man. His mate is married to a woman who has a sister who works in Madrid. Her hairdresser said Bale signing and the only delay is over the state of his man bun. #truelyintheknow
Actually it is for me. There's plenty of players that people seem content to sign that when they played against us were described in rather "unfavourable terms". I didn't like them then, and I wouldn't want them playing for my club now. All I've heard about this guy is that he may be somewhere on the twattish spectrum, but hopefully that will soon be rectified or either the signing won't work or he'll become a negative influence.
