Rennes are considering trying to sign Wahbi Khazri on loan.According to L'Equipe, the Ligue 1 side are confident that they could cover the bulk of the 26-year-old's wages.

It is not clear whether the Black Cats would be open to a temporary move. Jeremain Lens and Fabio Borini have left on season-long deals this summer, but both will make their switch permanent automatically.

Khazri signaled his intention to leave Sunderland in an interview on French TV last week, having failed to make Simon Grayson's starting line-up in any league game so far this season.

Sunderland fans booed the previously popular playmaker at Oakwell during the 3-0 defeat, though he then took to social media to state his commitment to the club.

The Black Cats would not stand in his way, seeking to move players on in order to allow Grayson to reshape his squad ahead of the transfer window closing on Thursday night.

We got £30m for Sissoko. FFS, I'm never going to tire of that.

We do seem to do well with selling players and getting some decent money for them.

It is mind-boggling some of the fees Sunderland players have gone for (as in far too low), but sending players out on loan (last season and this) when you could do with the cash seems to put you in a position where you don't have actual funds to get others in. Grayson has done a good job of bringing players in with the resources he has available to him.

We got decent money for Pickford, I think when we've got a genuinely good player who doesn't have some glaring problem then under the Bain regime we do ok for fees.

The big difference between us and N/C is that they had a strategy and, more or less, stuck to it.

They went out to buy young promising players, (on relatively low wages), with a view to selling them on a few years later, at a profit.
To achieve this they had Graham Carr as chief scout and he had the knack of finding players who would fit.

It wasn't perfect as a strategy.
I gather that not every Manager was happy with the degree of control over recruitment that Graham had, but the results have been well highlighted here.
The one I admired most was Sebastien Bassong. Bought for half a Million and sold a year later for £8mil.
Whatever his faults, Graham Carr earned his money.

Our 'strategy', on the other hand has been to experiment with Dof's, (failure), and a revolving door policy with Managerial appointments, (also failed).

    It's rancid.

Borini Lens and Khazri are all better than Sone Aluko and we will make about £3m in loam fees this summer.

Fulham have just shipped him to Reading for £7m

Aren't we getting proper fees for Borini and Lens after this season?

Whatever you lot say about Ashley and co the bloke runs your club well. Unlike our lot what couldn't run a bath.

If you get over 15m for Gayle to then you maybe get a decent forward in.

Behave man everything is Ashley's fault always have been, always will be. He's only invested 160m on player purchases in the last 3 seasons including 87 million of it spent by Rafa personally for incomings. What a **** eh.

It will all be Ashley's fault if anything goes wrong. :emoticon-0136-giggl

I've seen them use that excuse. Depends how you look at it and the relevance of the information to the point being made. That excuse doesn't wash when looking at management performance. Fact is Rafa has required and got 87m TO BUILD HIS SQUAD, and it's ****e.

You don't see us saying Grayson has spent £-30.75 million do we? <laugh><doh>

I 'm just guessing but I'd have thought their wages are much higher than Aluko was getting. I know they have had cuts since the relegation though so it may no longer be true. For Borini, Lens and Khazri their number one target this year is to get their wages back to where they think they should be and that is out of reach for most of the clubs for whom they would be a genuine improvement.

    It's really simple
Short wants to claim as much money back as he can get
Then buy players that want to play for us for nowt
