This should be in "rival watch" but this thread will probably be getting more traffic right now, so I only thought it was fair that I post it here to ensure everyone sees this bit of comedy gold. Apparently Arsenal want Aguero as part of the deal for Sanchez. Yes, you read that correctly. AGUERO. They don't want anyone else. Just AGUERO.
He's quite literally the most ridiculous player they could ask for. His wages are huge, he's one of the best strikers in world football and he currently plays for a club who are arguably most likely to win the league. Even if City were crazy and gave it the go ahead, he's never gonna gonna go to a team who don't have CL football, and appear to be in dire straits, even if they paid his wages. Just utterly crazy. I can't quite believe what I'm seeing.
Trippier is sitting out of England's training session today as a precautionary measure. ... Aurier gets work permit, joins United, Trippier out for 4 weeks! Spursy.
It seems we're set for a season of people arguing about the quote-unquote real reason for Pereira not joining, as so far these are the main stories 1.) Spurs bid around £15m, which was below the release clause, so Porto cut oof all negotiations there and then 2.) The £22m release clause was only good until mid-July, at which point a clause in his contract saw it increase to £31.5m 3.) Poch pulled the plug for unspecified reasons 4.) We wanted Aurier all along. Really. Yes we did. Something tells me the truth lies somewhere between the first two options... Meanwhile, another player linked with us this summer has joined a club that clearly is not Spurs
I assume that because Lacazette could not "do it on a weekend at Stoke" , they are attempting to panic-buy someone who can but is not Harry Kane.
How many of these have we seen recently? Surely keepy uppies should be part of a trial to determine true market value. This one is the most embarrassing yet!
You have to wonder whether the players are all in on it and taking the piss to see who can look the worst. I mean, seriously, that rainbow flick attempt is like something you'd see from a kid who's just started playing football.
I don't think that we'd announce it anyway, even if the deal was complete. Levy's probably got some deal with Sky for Transfer Deadline Day that means that we're contractually obliged to sign at least one player. Foyth and Aurier might give us a bonus before the chairman tries to play his wildcard and sign someone completely random.
It's a bit of a catch22 for us. We don't like believing these so called "itk's/journalists" but bearing in mind how long it takes the club to announce anything (sometimes they don't even bother), we have no choice but to believe them! annoucements for Foyth and Aurier will be on deadline day, IMO, regardless of whether they are completed before hand. Tactical move when all else fails from Levy.
Agreed. The club stand to gain nothing by announcing them any earlier. The fans, meanwhile, have survived 2 months of angst and disappointment - 2 more days won't kill us. Excellent protection mechanism so that the club can appear to be busy when in reality by 23.00 on Thursday we will have made 2 signings that mean anything this season. And if the deadline day "surprise" is a player whose surname is phonetically identical to a well-known bank, you will all be treated to a broad selection from the book of CK's finest rants. Praying for Draxler, Mahrez, even Gray or Origi. It's the hope that kills you. I think I learned that one from you.
