  5. Yep, the club was finally stable, but we all knew that the way the club seemed to be going at the start of last season was too good to be true, Mike Ashley and his cronies had to spoil it.

Could see it coming to be honest. Only a matter of time before Jose commented on the state of the club freely without fear of getting punished. Fair enough words though.

Was a big fan of Jose and sorry to see him go. Knew there must have been something wrong behind the scenes though.

I honestly think if we were willing to bring in another 1-2 quality signings on top of the guys we've brought in Enrique would have stayed, I think thats why he held on so long to be honest, this contract is important because it takes him into the prime of his career before he starts to hit the "getting on" age, he obviously thought he would have more chance at a more ambitious club and I dont think anyone can begrudge him of that too much.

Do love Jose. Would welcome him back once we become bigger than Liverpool in a couple of years time <whistle>

Okay Jose, we all enjoyed it while he you were here, but. All the players are not leaving at all. Out of the players who have left this window we would have only wanted to keep Jose himself anyway. Barton, I don't think he'll go until January or maybe even next Summer. The team is looking stronger than for a long time although obviously we will have to wait and see whether the new players settle. I for one am happy with the changes so far, bring in a decent left back and a striker and I wiil certaily be content with that

I still cant quite make my mind up whether I'm happier with the squad now than what I was last season, not so bothered about Nolan because we know he was starting to go downhill anyway, but at the moment the major differences are Carroll and Enrique, we STILL havent replaced Carroll adequately and theres no telling whoever we get in to replace Jose (if any) will match up.

We most certainly have a stronger midfield this season, but defence is lacking atm due to Jose and obviously as I said no Carroll replacement, so we are weaker in two areas and stronger in one area, suppose we cant judge properly until september 1st though.

Would be more plausible if he'd said " I asked for a new contract but was refused"...............

This and we wouldn't need to waste money on a new laft-back if he'd not buggered off.

I do think if we'd went out beginning of the window and spent 15million on Sturridge along with the guys we've brought in, then he'd still be here.

Thing is they are saying 3 major players left, then include Carrol in that!!!

It was 8 months ago since he left and we have got by for now, we do need another striker but I'm sick of the press still going on about it.

We have lost 3 players this summer Jose, Nolan & Routledge and 2 of those 3 have been replaced. So hardly class it as all the good players are leaving.
We all know we need a LB & Striker, so if get get those positions covered I'll be happy.

We won't be setting the league on fire but certainly don't see us a relegation fodder.

    This.

I certainly don't want Jose's sympathy, he can have mine when the bindippers nick his hubcaps and rob his house first time he's away overnight at an away game. It stinks to me like he's just keeping fans onside so he can return when we're in the Champions League.

TBH he's not really told us anything we didn't already know about players leaving, just made it sound worse than it actually is.

Sounds more like he's trying to justify his move and keep the fans sweet

Fair comment from Jose but I'd expect no less. I'm glad he has not just allowed any bitterness to colour his judgement with comments that could have damaged the current team. What goes on has to stay mainly in house for the sake of the club moving forward regardless of what pace its at. We've got ourselves saddled with an owner who has lost a lot of money and now wants it back. Fortunately to get it back he has to keep us reasonably healthy on the pitch. We knew it was going to be a bumpy ride while costs were reduced etc but we'll be ok. Its nice to see a lad who genuinely just cares for a club and is as honest as the day is light. I wish him well but I won't pretend it wasn't like a dagger through the heart watching him and Carroll lining up together for them last week. It hurts that we can't hold onto players of that level but thats football.
