Menorca next week. All inclusive in Punta Prima. Cruise next year Le Harve, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Hamburg.
Paphos in 2 weeks for me too. Last time was over 20 years ago. I miss the Fulham and Sunderland games unfortunately.
Crete in a couple of weeks. Anyone been to any interesting and warm places over Xmas (but not Aus/NZ or Far East)?
I've spent Christmas in the Caribbean, Mexico and India. Jamaica was my favourite (the weather was more mixed in Cancun and Goa and I got really bored of curry in Goa. Seriously, there was nothing else, it was even curry for breakfast).
Ending the summer with a weekend trip to San Antonio to visit Sea World and see the Alamo. Remember the Alamo?
That's why I liked it!! I stayed with a mate who lived there. So I was getting all the touristy things done but still going to the local boozer on a night and playing football on a weekend and training too. Had a month of it. God was I depressed when I came home
No. Dallas area here. Our weather actually improved thanks to the hurricane, though we take no pleasure in it.
Fair play I'm sure it's better with local knowledge I had a great time, but as far as the States go there's places I much prefer. Ideally ones with less wall to wall tramps at the beach
Good shout. Did Xmas in Cuba in 2000, Xmas lunch in Hotel d'Inglaterra in Havana. Asked the waiter for the wine list, he said he'd fetch the sommelier. Up came this chap in full evening dress waving a leather bound drinks menu. The wine page had 2 entries, Cuban white or Cuban red. We had them both and both were almost undrinkable! Great holiday though, I imagine it's a bit different now.
I know people who really enjoyed it in the Dominican Republic, but no-one who's visited the other Caribbean islands, it's just all round ****tier than Barbados or Jamaica. The fact that the cleaner got bleach all over our clothes on the first day possibly got us off on the wrong foot.
I've been a couple of times, go as soon as you can before it gets commercialised, it's got a wonderful charm about it at the moment, which in time I fear will get lost.
I had lived in ex commie countries for a few years before i went there so you could say i was acclimatised. In Havana the hotel offered chicken or fish, they appeared to be the same thing and served with peas, nothing else just peas. The street life in the central square where the white house is was amazing, could of sat there for hours just watching the world go by. The resort area of Varadero could be anywhere in the world, just do an all inclusive. Need to get back there to see how much has changed.
