I'm sure that "God" didn't intend for those young boys to get buggered by those who were educating them on "religious matters" and for the Catholic Church to have to (and continue to) pay out millions to them?

The Quran suggests something similar:

Well that is an element of religious people I don't like. They should accept that the views of athiests are valid just as they think athiests should accept the views of religious people are valid even if they don't agree with them.

I think the thing here is that if you 'believe' (in whatever shape or form, which is your right of course) then crack on. But to those of us who don't believe, we can't help but think that you're all disturbed in some way. I don't mean that to take the piss but I find it incredible that seemingly intelligent adults buy into it. Furthermore, if someone doesn't agree with something like for instance the policy on immigration (just an example btw) then it's human nature to denigrate it and say 'what a load of rubbish', so why should religion be any different?

The religion itself was not at fault for what happened, the people who ran the Church were, there is a difference. Child abuse happens in all walks of life - teachers, doctors, religious folk and athiests alike. It is a problem with human nature not religion

 

That's fair enough, but it's not very likely to happen, as the religious canons tell them not to accept those views.

Actually I have known several priests who preach that all faiths/beliefs are valid and that we should respect that. I think it is the really old school preachers who spread what you are talking about.

Luckily I have no contact with this type which is probably why I am so great.

As am I because I believe that life starts at conception and everyone has a right to life including an unborn child.
