PSG look set to complete the signing of Kylian Mbappe for an initial season's loan followed by an obligatory permanent fee of £160m. Why's that, you ask? Well, apparently this was the only way they could get around that bastion of fairness and equality, FFP. If the teams of Ligue 1 had any balls, they should simply boycott their games against PSG. Simply refuse to turn up. Tell all the fans to stay home too. Sure, they'd forfeit the points but most of them lose to PSG anyway - so why continue to indulge the farce? To my mind, this is the only way to put an end to the money circus masquerading as a football club.
You don't have to look that far to see the financial corruption killing any competition . City and Chavs success is built on it . I don't think the other clubs are so bothered . as their money creates global interest and more tv revenue . Gone are the days of the local gentlemen controlling boards with pride as their no1 interest . Those clubs are toxic and a cancer to the traditions of the game but unfoturnatly many are happy to be fed scraps even if it means the trophy cabinets will never be opened . Harvest time so bloody busy , the holiday cottages are always full till mid October so little time to ponder the annual Cock up that is Spurs selling/transfer window. I've started eating with health in mind . Adopted a Suffolk/Med hybrid that is the envy of the Old girl. Dakos is a stable , a Cretan sort of bruschetta , old dried rusk bread with chopped tomatoes (ours) , onions (ours) , capers , oregano , and a little feta . A generous amount of olive oil (my mates in Kalamata and sometime my rape oil which is very nutty . Made some Pesto from our Hazlenut tree and used sage as we have an aburdance instead of basil . Salt cured sardines are a good back up for those omega oils and wash done well with Adnams IPA. Her indoors is thinking of keeping bees , does anyone have any tips as I am a honey Virgin. An industrious And keeping Britian moving after the brexit Bulls up Sid
Sky are reporting this now, too. Levy's probably realized he can't waste any time haggling over an extra couple of mill with Wimmer, and instead needs to spend his time getting us an attacker!
Thanks for that Sid, your post cheered me up no end after yesterday's result If Mrs Sid is successful with the honey maybe she could try mead production
You have to laugh. I wonder that if the transfer rules were changed so that having to pay a considerable amount up front as the first instalment (say 50% max) would be the way to kill La Liga state-sponsored unsettling and Sugga Daddy FCs.
Now reported that Aurier wanted to go to Man Utd but we offered more money........ not warming to this one
Was the site down today? Couldn't seem to access it at all. Ho hum. Finally got round to watching some highlight reels of Juan Foyth. First question: Who decided and when did they decide that he is a left-sided CB? The guy can barely kick with his left foot. He plays on the right side of a '3' for both Argentina and Estudiantes so at least he's used to that system. Comfortable on the ball but strikes me as a younger, skinnier version of John Stones. Hopefully Poch can work his magic but tbh selling Wimmer and bringing him in seems like a silly thing to do. Only one left footed CB left which means if Jan gets injured we are forced to play 4 at the back - at least until DOF Rose returns and we can start experimenting with Davies as a CB (although I don't think we will).
He is one of those "too good to pass up" young players. He looks to have supreme confidence on the ball and is probably the new Toby Alderweireld. I've no problem with such a signing but let's not count him as a first team squad signing. He's about as likely to play for our first team as I am this season. Having let Wimmer go and CCV rumoured to be off on loan, I would expect Ben Davies to be Super Jan's cover. That's fine. Any money left in Kitty needs to go on non-defensive recruits. That's a forward and an attacking midfielder.
CCV went 3 days ago Bri. But I tend to agree with your last point. Time and money are extremely precious commodities now and should be spent on attacking options. Problem is, Foyth and Aurier look to be 2 of Poch's "I'm berry confident to bring in 3 more", which leaves uno. Now that Chelsea have signed Oxlade, I sincerely hope we avoid Barkley like the plague until January and instead turn our attentions to someone like Demarai Gray.
Ah yes, I remember now. Been boozing all afternoon down on The Thames. Very good fun but damaging to the old grey matter.
So Foyth and Sanchez instead of Wimmer, Aurier instead of Walker and Gazzaniga instead of Lopez. Are we stronger than last season?
If our bench still features Vinnie, Sissoko and GKN after Thursday, then no. If they're gone and we have some new options, then maybe? Keeping players that the management have all but no faith in, indicates that we're not getting stronger.
Very true. I don't necessarily think they need to be gone, but ideally, our bench at full strength should be: Vorm Sanchez Davies Winks Lamela Son NEW ATTACKING OPTION WHO CAN RUN
Well the site went down yesterday, and bank holiday Monday produced quite a bit of transfer news all round! Liverpool signed Kieta for 55m but he's not joining for another year. Apparently they also had a £60m bid for Lemar rejected. Chelsea have pretty much bought AOC from Arsenal. As for us, Wimmer completed a medical at Stoke and looks to be off for 18m. Foyth has told the media in Argentina that Poch rang him to convince him to join spurs and he confirmed he's joining. Aurier supposedly finds out today from the authorities whether the transfer will go through. And the best bit of all.... Sissoko was on social media telling fans to unfollow him if they don't like him because he's not leaving Tottenham!!
