Yeah I remember that game well, had a 10 fold accumalator on and all had come in already with just Saints left to play as the evening kick off. I was spending Christmas in Dubai so was watching the game late in my hotel room. Saints had been on a rubbish run and people were calling for Koeman to get sacked and then Martina scored that thunderbolt and we won 4-0. I of course had backed Arsenal to win so lost my bet, but wasn't massively fussed

If the Palace board are really considering that then they only have themselves to blame.
No investment in the squad this transfer window and deciding De Boer was good enough in the first place.
Still think it would be harsh not to give a manager at least 10 league games mind.

I won't comment too much on the wider context of the game for obvious reasons, but spotted a nice moment today at Anfield.

The Kop were chanting Sadio's name during the first half, to which Sadio responded by clapping them before cupping his hand to his ear and waving his other hand next to his ear, as if to tell them to be louder.

Anyway, the Kop goes up some more. Sadio continues to tell them to get louder.

They get louder yet, and Sadio acknowledges it with a big smile and a clap followed by an 'OK' hand gesture.

The Anfield crowd sure do love Mané - as do I, really. One of my favourite players in the past few years. So exciting to watch. Love that he's got that showmanship element to his game as well.

It's barmy now to think some people decided he was worthy of comparisons to Ali Dia in the early days...

Nice to see JayRod score today. He looked bang on the pace and tactic at WBA, something that he seemed to have lost at St Mary's no matter how many times he tried. And I'm aware of the good goal at Dean Court.

If Mane continues with this form all season I can see Real or Barcelona or even PSG making an eye watering offer to buy him.......hope we have a good % sell on clause.

De Boer was sacked rapidly from his last job wasn't he....after we hired Puel instead.

When the new season kicks off, the first managerial casualty is usually a topic of conversation but I had not expect De Boer to be featured. I can't understand why Palace under-perform given the calibre of their squad. I am sure that they will improve albeit I don't think they are under-performing quite as much as West Ham who I still believe will finish on the top half of the table.

The usual candidate for a sacking is whoever is in charge at Newcastle. They would be made to make a change there as he Rafa is the best hope they have. If I placed bets, surely the odds of Klopp must have been quite good at prior to the start? I think he has assembled a strong squad yet they are never going to break in to the top four and teams like Man Utd seem to have improved considerably and will therefore make Klopp's job harder. If you are looking for an outside bet, surely Wenger would now be a good option ? He is probably the one manager who needs to be replaced to improve a jaded Arsenal team but he must have the safest job in football.

Not sure Marco Silva is a happy bunny either....body language not good.

As for managers leaving....why, oh why did Wenger stay another season. His reputation was already suffering at Arsenal....where he should be regarded as a hero. Arsenal need a complete revamp....he should have left that painful duty to others.

The dissatisfaction with Wenger seems to have been going on for about three or four seasons now. He is really destroying his legacy which, even as someone who is no fan of Wenger / Arsenal, was truly instrumental in modernising the way a football club is managed. History will reveal Wenger's appointment to be pivotal to the game , at least in England, but this is now all being undone by his stubbornness in staying in his position. He do not doubt that another manger could come in and revitalise the current squad Arsenal have and make them a threat again.

I go to France quite often and it is fascinating to see how Arsenal are revered across the Channel .Instead of being a team looking to challenge winning the league, they just seem to be considered the ultimate destination for any French player who shows a bit of form. I would love to know Si Alex's thoughts on the current Arsenal side and would expect his assessment to be especially damaging as the team totally lacks the character than enabled Arsenal to match Man Utd in their heyday. I can't see Arsenal qualifying for Europe at all this season.

Absolutely. Mane is deadly, direct and fast. If he has a stormer this season, I can see any one of who you suggested making enquiries!
